I love it, but the character that is dishonored is the one that gets the attachment... So depends on what that attachment is.

I don't think that works. I think when you change the target, the new target becomes the intended target (As it is part of the cost). But I could be wrong.

I'm not sure about that, I thin Young Rumormonger would only change who ends up being dishonored not who gets the attachment but I'm willing to accept that I may be wrong about that.

Actually I immediately thought of Kenshin. Han'nya.

That might be why I think it is iconic.

Also a very good point of memory. Geez, now I'm all nostalgic.

I'm actually somewhat ashamed that this wasn't my first thought as well. Looks like I found something to watch on my trip.

Also do we have a definition for what a "friendly" character is?

From the Rules Reference, under "Cost":

Quote

◊ When a player is paying a cost, the payment must be made with cards and/or game elements that player controls. The word “friendly” is used as a reminder of this in some costs.

And from the Learn to Play Document:

Quote

Friendly - The word “friendly” is used in the cost of some abilities as a reminder that costs can only be paid with cards controlled by the player triggering the ability.

Gooood... VERY good.

So "Friendly" just means controlled by? That definitely helps.

I mean lets just use fine katana/ornate fan as a baseline. Even if you have to dishonor one of your characters:

0 glory - that's a 4 power swing for 1 fate worth.

1 glory - that's a 2 power swing for 1 fate not horrible.

2 glory - Only acceptable on attachments with higher costs.

This card seems VERY powerful and seems like a pain in the butt for dragon to have to deal with.

idk - I'm kinda worried that the honor loss, and dishonor cost of some actions may be too expensive... We're going to have only 10 starting honor, and allegedly we're going to want to (learn to play pg27) "make high honor bids" in addition to dishonoring to trigger these abilities in addition to paying the fate and honor for them...... I'm worried it might be too much. We're gonna need some type of honor-loss mitigation or we're going to be the quickest clan to burn themselves out.

Leg Go costs 0 to discard an attachment. This is a fairly reliable 1-2 skill play possibly more if there are relevant abilities. Sure, Calling In Favors gives me the card but with the glory loss, dishonor, and 1 fate cost... I wonder if the effect is going to be worth it...

Adept of Shadows also concerns me. She is 2/2 and you can pay 1 honor to take her back to your hand. She is a 0 Glory character so she is a prime target for any dishonor costs BUT you'll still lose that honor when she leaves play dishonored with her ability or not... That can make it very costly in a system that is already choking...

I mean - this game is choking on everyone. The game is very tense and resources are few, but I wonder just how much honor they are expecting us to throw away...

I guess the stronghold ability MAY BE to take 1 honor from your opponent IF you are less honorable than them, but that is in lieu of the direct buffs the other clans receive through their stronghold... and really I just wonder if it will be worth it. We'll have to play and see...

Has it been confirmed that a character returning to hand counts as leaving play for the purposes of honor/dishonor loss? Cause that would be a huge ruling if it transpires that you specifically need the character in question to go to the *discard* pile...

1 glory would be a 3 power swing because the enemy is still losing 2.

2 glory would still leave a 2 power swing. Which could be well worth it.

Edit

Final point - this card is ridiculous. And many stolen cards will be missed.

Why would it have to be confirmed? The language for it is clear and straightforward in the Rules Reference. It happens when the personality leaves play. Returning to your hand from play is leaving play.

Hooray for low glory stats

Stealing a Height of Fashion is an 8 skill swing.:D

And this would work on Above Question right, since it's targeting the attachment and not the attached character?

With City of Lies, this might also be a 0 cost event, I think?

It *can* be, but keep in mind City of Lies has an action ability, not a constant ability. So barring other shenanigans, you can only use it once per round.

Yeah, but 1 fate saved is 1 fate saved regardless of what you save it on.

Right, I just wanted to clarify in case anyone thought that it reduced the cost of ALL events by 1, rather than it being a one-time effect.

Nah, I recalled it was only once, but figure there's a big difference something costing 1+ and 0, if you're low on fate.

Very true. Especially if you're saving up some fate to play something expensive, like Ambush.

Yes it would work on Above Question.

So no one has mentioned stealing Way of dragon and popping it on Shoju. Kills any dishonored character in game( unless I'm missing a 4 pol/0 glory guy)

Only pops it up to 3 times per turn, not 2.

Right, which is why a 4 Political / 0 Glory character would be safe.

Honored Blade is +2MIL and if you win a conflict you gain 1 honor. This creates a 4 mil swing (-2 for them, +2 for me) and recoups my honor if I win. I could play Magnificent Kimono on myself to become honored I guess... but it can also be fun to dishonor them ^_^

Magnificent Kimono would actually be a pretty sick splash for a Scorp guy to basically make himself dishonourable repeatedly... I wonder what else would be useful in Phoenix...

I just realised that this splashed in Dragon is gonna be the reason that people are gonna just not play attachments that cost 2 or more. The swings you're risking giving away are potentially backbreaking, And Let Go can just make a sad face happen.

But yeah, someone has probably said it, but high price attachments are as rough a deal in this game as they are in all the others lol.
