My thoughts:
* Hooray, Isawa Kaede and Ujina! And Ninube! NINUBE! Ahem, I'll be over here...
* Excuse me, but it says the Emperor's... children? As in, more than simply Sotorii, the Crown Prince? Very interesting.
* So, the Iuchi have bound jinn from the Burning Sands in some of their magic? And someone might break open their talisman and have it cause trouble? Interesting. Innnnteresting.
* Once again, Katrina Ostrander demonstrates an encyclopedic knowledge of L5R Lore that shows this story is in the best hands.
* So... Fu Leng or the Lying Darkness? Or is the release of Fu Leng simply the opening the Lying Darkness will exploit? Will we see a Lying Darkness manifested as the Shadow Dragon without the whole "Sacrifice of the Air Dragon" part? I wonder...

I legit hope I run into Katrina at GenCon to tell her how happy I am with the direction she's taking the story. This was well written and banished any doubt I had about where we were headed.

I really hope she's there, I've always been big on lore for games, so if there's anyone I'd want to have sign my game swag, it would probably be her.

Definitely! I remember Fred Wan and other members of the AEG team being some of the best people to talk to about the game, too.

I was in the story seminar that got cancelled. I didn't know about the new panel they were doing until it was already sold out too.

historically, Hantei XXXVIII had two kids, but the younger never made it to being a prince. he got... diverted.... INTO JIGOKU.....

so either we just saw (obliquely) a Hantei Daigotsu (or whatever) or theres a new Hantei. Or something. EITHER WAY VERY INTERESTING
