Sato Carrier in Disguise

By Kaashifar, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

First post here.

Stole an idea from Crabbok on Youtube, using HH as a cheap carrier

Combined with Sato, Yavaris for a punch and an MC80 for added flair

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)
- Yavaris ( 5 points)
- Flight Commander ( 3 points)
- Fighter Coordination Team ( 3 points)
= 68 total ship cost

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 39 total ship cost

1 Ten Numb ( 19 points)

I personally don't build a list with an MC80 Liberty type without including a fix for its terrible mobility. I.E with Madine, Nav team or Engine Techs. Or even Skilled first officer, Navigation Officer or Defence Liason could work. Getting 1 ship into your front arc without any upgrade may be hard. Getting 2 with gunnery team may prove impossible.

Flight Controllers is an expensive upgrade to only reliably be getting off 2 squadron activations per round. That is comparable to upgrading 2 Tie Fighters to Tie Interceptors, and getting counter and the speed boost for free. Obviously there are other advantages in having the attack boost in the card (i.e if the squadron is destroyed you don't lose the potential bonus) but there are also downsides, eg a reliance on this specific ship making squadron orders. I'd generally use a minimum 3 fighter activation as viable for flight controllers, which can be achieved with Commander Leia with a HH.

The other obvious competing upgrade, ordnance experts is almost too good to pass up with Sato, as you'll be rolling plenty of black dice. External Racks or Flechette Torps for more value.

Han Solo is great with Sato too.

My suggestion would be to drop the MC80 too free up a lot of points, to invest in fighters.

Invest more in the HH damage, so they become a decent threat in any activation. Not just as glorified carriers. Image activating 3 Y-wings (with squadron token) for 3 black dice (and BCC rerolls), followed with 5 black dice (with Racks and OE), for estimated 10 damage (78 points, plus Sato).

I like the Pelta in this sort of fleet, with Entrapment Formation, as this frees up your commands to not ever need to navigate, instead only using squadron or concentrate fire. Or you can nav to jump from speed 1 to 3 to escape death.

If going bomber heavy, you'll want bomber command centre. If instead going A-wings, YT-1300's, etc you do not need but may instead want Toryn Farr.

Thanks Divad

I've never tried Sato with MSU only, I tend to like him on a big ship. YPou're totally right about no navigating help for the LMC80 though.

If I went for Pelta instead, I could totally add HHs and keep yavaris for a punch. I like where you're going with that. Cheers!
