HI I'm Joe & I Play The STAR WARS X-WING MINIATURES GAME.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

Hello, my name is Ian and I am also addicted.

I enjoy flying these plastic ships. I like playing epic, the bigger the better. I like flying silly 100pt lists (Porkins is awesome, you should try using him too), even in tournaments. I like flying highly competitive lists, although I prefer using something a bit odd and making it work anyway. I have even started to like flying Imperial ships (green dice? What are those? Where are my decimators?) and not just Rebels and 5 Cartel Marauders - currently using triple Tie Advanceds because I have 3 and they all need to be flown, not just Vader all the time.

I like tournaments, partly because they are days spent playing X-Wing, and partly because you meet such great people there - people who like playing X-Wing too. I also like playing at home and at the FLGS. I only wish I could play more often.

This forum is pretty much the only place where I hear from pessimistic and fed-up folks. Cheer up and go play some more games!

Hi my name is Josh and I just bought a U wing because I love the movie Rouge one.

And I'm gonna fly it in my next list too!

I can't say how many times I have misspelled that.

Hi, my name is Joe and I play X-wing. I was introduced to this game when my uncles brought a game they had been playing to my house while they were visiting. They knew I liked Star Wars game and wanted to know if I wanted to play a game with them. This in fact, was my first minatures game I had ever played and I enjoyed it. I thought the mechanics of the game and model quality were great. I got the core set a mother later and have been playing a couple of years now. I still play with my brother and play the game when we have nothing else to do.

When X Wing was released one friend told me that he purchased one Basic set a couple of months after being available. "Good looking but very simple... quite similar to Wings of War. You will not enjoy this one". We were engaged in Historical ASL (Operation Veritable) and War in the Pacific. Allways SW fan but those days much more interested in Wildcats and Panthers.

Perhaps 3 months later as a Plan B we played X Wing. I was interested but not ultra excited. No Power management or vertical axis. 3 Players. Only one Basic set. So one model each. Death Match. More interested but not 100% into it. Little simple game.

I purchased 2 boxes. Third player bought one. Then played 4 X Wings vs 8 Ties. And We fell in love. And when Wave 2 hit our shelves madness started. A Wings. B Wings. Bombers. Interceptors...

I allways say that the best way to start playing X Wing is with 2 Basic Sets. One little game we said...

My only disagreement is that I think adding some interceptor fun into an intro game helps, just to showcase the varied abilities of the ships. B-wings and Bombers kind of demand upgrades to really show what they can do, but naked interceptors can still perform. Last intro I did ran TIEs and Interceptors against 2 X-wings and 3 A-wings. No upgrades, and only a couple of named pilots, but it was a blast and the newbies are itching to try it again.

My name is Jim and I became addicted after warching X-wing on Wil Wheaton's Tabletop. After 2-1/2 years and more $ than I wish remember, I'm still addicted. Not even the Doom and Gloom crowd on these threads have managed to relieve my addiction!

His time is about to come back again!! Soon I will be able fly Virago proudly again!

I love my main boy the U-Wing (Heff Tober) been in love with it since I first saw it and it's been my favourite ship in Star Wars for some time now.

i can't resist building a rebel list without it, anytime you see me disposing out some rebel 100/6 it'll be with Boshek and Heff (plus whatever else)

people should fly what they love then they'll love flying.

I just keep picturing him like a young Hugh Heffner. He's got a smoking jacket and some booze and he's looking smug as ****.

<Sigh ... shuffling feet, looking down in embarrassment  >

<Finally looks up ... >

My name is ... uhhhh ... **** ... I knew it ... oh yeah ... Will ... :o

I am 76 years old (but feel like Yoda's age) ... I have over $4,000 wasted (a momentary lapse in senility there) invested in this game and I have never once played a game of any kind.

It is possible, and I stress possible, that I ***may*** have an issue ... :P

<3 the Joe.

I made a Wedge, Biggs, and Luke list the other day. Won my game.

Was fun to fly some old school stuff, but definitely felt like I was playing with a handicap.

Hi I am Jindra. Though I joined the game with The Force Awakens and don't remember the times when you could fly Luke with R2-D2 and Proton Torpedoes, I am with you. I love flying the ships as they are beautiful and they do pew pew! Or I make that sound? Not sure. I don't like playing plenty of aces because battles are won with lowly soldiers and there can only be few heroes on the battlefield! I don't mind my ships (exceptions exist...Poe I am looking at you) doing just one action per turn. I fly what I like and don't care what others think! And I always go for a chance to play all 5 of my T-70 X-Wings!

I love Star Wars! Don't take the game too seriously!

Next time I'm in Vegas. ;)

Hi! I am an innocent victim

It was my children who were not satisfied with playing wargames with sailships, but instead tried to fly homemade Star Destroyers (Fimo) over the seascape. Only for their's sake I finally gave in and bought a Core Set on offer.

What, if I like painting? Yes, of course *looking embarassed*

I think you can self count 1 +1 together here *looking horrified at today's buy of a Scurrg and the Excel sheet over all the money invested into little plastic ships and stuff around it.....*

Hello, my names Jarek

I remember when I first bought my core set.

I was heading down to the local Toys'R'Us with a buddy to pick up some 40K, but truth be told I hadn't been feeling the game for some time. It lost a lot of its magic to me and became little more than throwing dice and I felt like I had no control over whether I won or lost. I remembered the awe I felt when I first started the game and wanted to feel it again. That's when I saw it.

lonely and shunned off to the side was a dusty box, I lifted it up and read the label "X-Wing" the miniatures, the theme it intrigued me far more than any of the models from 40K. I went home played some games and, well, I was hooked. The subtlety of controlling the ties and predicting gamble of guessing opponents moves game me the thrill, rush and risk that had been missing for so long.

But it had an important factor I felt isn't talked about much here: solo practise. In warhammer and MTG there seemed to be little ability to better ones skill before a game in any way other than combat. But I used to fly these ships round and round my small playmat (1 foot by 1.5 foot, I had a small apartment...) the game gave me the opportunity to learn distance and strategy and I felt like my life hanged in the balance with every single roll of the dice. It was bliss. Of course there came a time when I had to forgoe the pond I had made for myself (my 40K friends refused to get into the game sadly) and try swim in the ocean amongst the other players. Not knowing much of the meta I took my Backstabber, Krassis Trelix and the rest of the swarm to engage in deadly dogfights against others.

Yes im an addict, yes I love this game, yes I refuse to place a ship on the table until I've flown it around my bench for at least an hour (much to the chagrin of some of my playmates), yes I believe that that any ship can win if enough love, time and polish/effort is put into it, yes I believe you can beat any list with a good enough tactic (if you have a hammer start looking for nails), yes I believe the meta/netlists are gimmicks that can be overcome with grit, balls and experience/tactics and yes I may be in denial.

But I'm glad I came here, X-Wing means a lot to me and when met by new players I will always tell them to fly what they love and if they love the Hwk or the T65 or whatever I will tell them to pick it up and fly it.

the game still has its charm to me, its risks and it's challenges.

i love X-Wing.

I love the...simplicity, the purity of three X-Wings skulking through an asteroid field hunting down the Oppressors. But. While it never appeared in the movies I grew up on (cast out the Remastered monstrosity!), I can't get enough of that StarViper. So sexy. And the mk.2 title? Excuse me; I need some alone time.

Edit: Oh, yeah. Hey, Boss-man! Thank you for helping maintain the Light!

Hi, I'm Brendon and there's a well known fact in my playgroup.

If you bring an articulated ship I will play with it.

I will move the Falcon's radar dish based on other ships' positions.
I will adjust anyone's TIE Strikers wings based on his maneuvers and AA maneuvers.

I will change the the wings of the U-Wing when it flips the title.
