HI I'm Joe & I Play The STAR WARS X-WING MINIATURES GAME.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

Maybe for some ace wing is a cool card game, but for most of us who have played The X-WING MINIATURES Game for five'ish years now... we know that there was a great time where you threw Luke in his Xinger-Winger with R2 and some torps and maybe a MOD for the ship and WHAM-GA-DAM-BOOM it was game time baby!

I have been teaching my gf how to play and I admit it's been a blast playing with x wings and b wings and tie fighters, doing one action a turn, having nothing but arcs to line up.

I'm not an "the old days were better" kind of guy, and i love playing competitive but I didn't realize how much I missed and enjoyed super simple x wing until I started teaching her from scratch

My name is Ken. I realized I had a problem when I won a 3rd original core set (4th overall) in a tournament and decided to keep instead of sell it.

I had been out of miniature gaming for years... then I stumbled on X-WING CORE AND WAVES 1 & 2 (just released that week) and I remembered something very important from my younger daze.

I have been a better man since and it is great!

^_^

Hello my name is Sean and I have been addicted since I bought the Falcon at Barnes & Noble back in 2012 because I thought it was a cool model.

Well, it is plastic crack, after all.

As far as why I still love X-Wing TMG, warts and all, is that IMNSHO it really is a fun game to play as long as you don't file it down to hypercompetative, murderous edge*. If its flying missions with my kids, or flying good but casual lists at my FLGS, I have a blast with the game, even though I can come here and talk about how certain ships and cards are unbalanced. I really owe it to my local scene as the guys don't fly super netlists. We talk about them while we're playing, everyone is aware of whatever the latest top lists are, but everyone falls back to flying what they want to fly. Its possible to have a good list with synergy and theme within it that is enjoyable to fly and fly against without flying the top netlists of the wave. Maybe its an unconscious case of M.A.D., but I'm glad my local store has a laid back crew.

*nothing wrong with those folks that do like this sort of gameplay, everyone has their own tastes

See that is where I am at. It's like I tell my local group... If I lose every game at a tournament, yes I am disappointed but I don't care because a day pushing plastic and saying pew pew pew is better than a day doing the "Honey-Do-List" at home.

Hi my name is Dan and I joined dark side after some friends taught me how to make pew pew noises with star wars ships.
Also I realized I could actually afford this hobby! Unlike warhammer (which I have played for a decade)

I am not an adict. I control my impulses and I can stop buying new models but simply I want more. Saturday morning I will purchase model number 392. Quadjumper #4. No ice creams or nuggets so my reward is awaiting. I hope someday I will own a Nebulon B and during my golden years I will somehow build from scratch one 8 feet long ISD.

Also I think this is a superb game and I love Reds vs Greens with standar die mods (TL, Focus...). A simple game to share your time with SW aficionados. And when maneuvering with Red Veteran (Rogue Squadron Title) my hearth pumps faster. And feel good.

Hi Danny Ole Boy Ole Star Brah!

^_^

I've been hooked since I picked up Slave I, and had to get the core set to justify it to my wife.

Ditto, save it was my brother than gave me my first hit.

And when I lose all the time, my wife reminds me that it is all my fault for choosing the wrong team and playing bad guys (because the Empire is supposed to lose).

I can quit any time I want.

...

I just don't want to yet. ;)

Seriously I love this game and my group of fellow local 'Wingers, I'm fine with wave 11, I think the Jumpmaster ought to be brought down a notch or two but if it doesn't happen I'm not going to get my panties in a twist over it.

I first got hooked when I saw the B-wing expansion in the new store in my local area in summer of 2013, but didn't get it 'til Christmas that year. No extra expansion packs (other than the b-wing) until my birthday in October. Have been expanding ever since. Up to +/-20 models worth about 300$ Will edit with real numbers, I plan on getting more than 50 dollars more by New Years. It always makes me feel better to know others have bigger collections.

To me is quite the opposite. More than once I bring my high-level list, and I lost against dubbious choices (you know, PS1 A-Wings, Ion Cannons, Wedge ecc).

So I learned that skill is really something. And more than that, there's some alchemy sometimes between understimate choices that brings out some interesting surprises.

So my advice is: do you want to play Luke? Play Luke and f--- off the rest.

And I will not say "fly casual", not totally. But look far what you like, and build around a list with a tought.

The last example that I can bring is Outmaneuver Dalan Obern, with PS9 Ketsu and Unkar Plutt. Tractor Ketsu is there to help to trigger Outmaneuver into Dalan and his dial/ability. Unkar close the circle.

You can really build up a lot of nice lists, if you build them properly. Don't fall into the net lists! Try new ways, build up lists with a concept. Like the Ion Brobots.

When X Wing was released one friend told me that he purchased one Basic set a couple of months after being available. "Good looking but very simple... quite similar to Wings of War. You will not enjoy this one". We were engaged in Historical ASL (Operation Veritable) and War in the Pacific. Allways SW fan but those days much more interested in Wildcats and Panthers.

Perhaps 3 months later as a Plan B we played X Wing. I was interested but not ultra excited. No Power management or vertical axis. 3 Players. Only one Basic set. So one model each. Death Match. More interested but not 100% into it. Little simple game.

I purchased 2 boxes. Third player bought one. Then played 4 X Wings vs 8 Ties. And We fell in love. And when Wave 2 hit our shelves madness started. A Wings. B Wings. Bombers. Interceptors...

I allways say that the best way to start playing X Wing is with 2 Basic Sets. One little game we said...
