Fallout (ZX02)?

By Ilnyt, in Fallout

Hello,

This looks very promising! I'm a huge Fallout's fan and I hope that I won't be disappointed like with Fallout 3!

But just a simple question: Why "ZX02" in the title? What does it means?

Best,

Ilnyt

Prdouct code perhaps?

Yep, it's the product code. It's not part of the title.

Is ZX01 the first expansion?

No real way to tell why they chose the code they did.

ZX01 is the product code for FFG's other product done in partnership with Z enima X , Doom .

Therefore, the second game, Fallout, is simply designated ZX02. The next game they do (be it an expansion to an existing one or some other game), will most likely be named ZX03. And so on.

This is one where I don't actually foresee a ton of expansions. There might end up being a couple, but nothing like their in-house properties.

Possible, but if they want to do it there is a ton of stuff in Fallout they could use.

Another reason to think there won't be a lot of expansions. They probably would have given it a separate coding from the Doom boardgame if they intended to do a bunch more stuff with it.

Thank you for your answers! This is clear now!

Really? What about Zombicide then...

Zombicide is not produced by FFG

Ok my fault, Zombicide is distributed by Edge in Belgium who is the French side of FFG... I was thinking that FFG was handling the english edition of Zombicide

It's made by Guillotine Games (I think they are french) and Cool Mini or Not.

And I could be wrong, they might end up doing a ton of expansions. I'm just making a prediction based on game style, source and past behavior of the company.

Not really.

Star Wars Empire vs Rebellion is SW01

Star Wars Rebellion is SW03

The expansion for Rebellion is SW04

There is no SW02

They are just product codes. They could easily code expansions as ZX03, or even recode them as FO01 or ZXF01 (Xwing is SWX## for instance)

If the base game works well, and the IP contract is open enough, FFG will definitely expand the game. I don't see a lot of smaller expansions ala Imperial Assault, and with only the player characters having figures, I doubt we'll see enemy mini packs either. But I definitely see adventure expansions. The base game includes the Capitol Wasteland(FO3), The Pitt (Fo3), the Commonwealth (FO4), and Far Harbor (FO4). One could surmise they have access to all of FO3 and 4. This leaves several options.

FO3 has Point Lookout which would work just fine. Operation Anchorage is less likely. Mothership Zeta is also less likely, but possible. Broken Steel could be a way to expand upon the Capitol Wasteland game, or in fact just an entire new adventure. So 1 likely, and 3 other possibilities if they get creative.

FO4 has Nuka World which would work. You could also probably stretch Automatron into an adventure setting also. So you could put Nuka World, Point lookout, Automatron, and Broken steel into an expansion box for $40 pretty easy.

After that, it depends more on the contract. Do they have access to New Vegas? That could be an expansion all on it's own. Mojave wasteland, Honest hearts, Dead Money, Lonesome road, old world blues. What about FO1 and 2 as an expansion? If they have access to all of it, I could see an easy 3 expansions which would give a TON of replayability to the game while being mostly just cardboard and cards.

Oh, I would not be surprised by a couple expansions. Some people were predicting endless and constant expansions though, and that's what I don't think will happen.

That would be nice, so we could help build the NCR.

Expansions might be down to core game sales. I'm not sure how well Doom has done (Imperial Assault and Descent have been very popular by comparrison and almost the same game engine).

My only concern with Fallout at this point is the number of tiles. If there's only 18 in the box then replay value will downgrade quickly, especially if the non-story linked tiles are always the same.

If it sells well, I would hope for some small expansions with extra non-story tiles and a character or two and maybe bigger boxes for new stories. This is similar to how Eldritch Horror etc have expanded.

New Vegas springs to mind, but F1 and 2 may not as Bethesda has pretty much shunned them. I would expect some new stories as well otherwise I may as well just play the original vid games.

For now I'm looking forward to the base game and hoping there is enough variety for many playthroughs with the same group.
