what the heck! U-wing vs Upsilon

Well they weren't exactly released in the same wave. U-wing was a movie release and I consider those different from the rest of the wave as they often have different release date and different development cycles because of them. The playtesters that I know of have told me they get nothing on movie releases.

Also the Upsilon starts at 30 and the U-wing starts at 23. So if you want to go by point cost (which is all the rage now these days) the Upsilon is supposed beat the U-wing in all encounters. So that brings me to the conclusion you need to add more context to your list (as well as your post). What do you mean by better, better lists?

I think we can all agree that the Upsilon is decent and the U-wing is terrible. Now, I'm not saying that every ship needs to be competitive but I just found it weird that they are so similar and were released so close to each other and one of them clearly outclasses the other.

In FFGs defence they did try and make it stand out by giving it a very unique title. However it clearly is not effective. I hope they come out with a new title that makes it better because it is my favorite model.

U-Wing would be incredible with access to Systems Officer and Fleet Officer. As others have mentioned, it's a support crew carrier without support crew.

All that being said, a U-Wing with FCS, Rey, and Engine upgrade is crazy fast and has a great firepower/cost:durability ratio starting at 31 points. If Rebels ever get some good support crew, it will see plenty of play.

As a sidenote, our U Wing fix. After all Dials are selected the Rebel player can flip his U wing title card/cards. Works fine. If U wings on both sides (never happened) the player with the initiative goes second. So simple it hurts.

Working in a Mod depicting Door Gunner.

One **** fine rebel supporting crew for other ships though and the U wing will have it's day in the sun.

Or put said crew on the auzzy

You could....

But if they are a range dependent crew you may find that the bigger base is the deciding factor...

I'm actually betting on General Leia being that kind of support crew.

Any kind of range-banded, non-action crew would find an interesting home in a U-wing. Put Hera in the other seat and you have a great freedom of non-movement. I was looking last night and sadly I didn't see many options for that available to the Rebels. One day!

non action would def rather the Auzzy so it could reinforce

ACTION would rather go on El Heffe

I say this because the larger base offers more coverage for the card's effect. Stress turns Tober off, and the U-Wing's other main advantage is that it can turn in place, doing that stresses you, so the solution is Hera. You would never get unstressed in that instance.

In a U-Wing/Auzituck comparison the large base and title are the unique factors for the U, you need to play up those strengths to make use of the thing.

Forgive me, I'm not a rebel player, but isn't Jyn a pretty good support crew? Sure, it requires an action, but that's on par with the imperial options for handing out focus tokens.

Or are you looking specifically for a rebel palpatine?

This is fun!

Cassian: Advanced Sensors + TL or Boost + PTL + Focus ( Option to convert to Evade at R 1-3 of Keyan ) + White/Green Move to clear stress and get Focus. Should leave you with either a Focus/TL/Evade or a Focus/Focus/TL ( Free Recon Spec crew which is a life saver on 2 dice ).

Keyan: Advanced Sensors + Rage + White/Green to Clear 1 Stress + Focus from Rage ( Option to Convert to Evade ) + Shot to Clear 1 more stress

Green Squadron Pilot: Because A-Wings are fun and at PS5 you can Forward 4 or 5 to block people :)

When turning around with Cassian....Advanced Sensors boost 1 left right or forward to make it a 1 -K Turn. Or don't bother every switching to landing mode and just take very wide jousting runs with the 4 straight + boost to get away and back into action. Keyan and GSP can take care of themselves while your off at some corner of the board.

i could see General Leia being an epic thing...which i hope not since her current card is useless.

Rebels still have tons of big/decently big characters that arent crew yet. So theres still hope they get access to a crew that you actually DONT want on the ship youre trying to buff for a change.

Pretty much the only difference between the Auzzy and Uwing is the Auzzy makes the jyn/jan combo actually work and Low's ability is innately supporty as well while none of the uwings currently are (heff easily could be, should rebels get a fleet officer type thing) but the Uwing has access to systems and targetlock, so it can be more offensive. Its just currently the uwing cant actually benefit from its half of that coin, but the ground is there for it.

How would something like this work out? I'm not sure about the modification but I feel like there could some merit in the build.

Cassian Andor (27)

Tactical Jammers (1)

Pivot wing (0)

Wired (1)

Advanced sensors (3)

Kyle Katarn (3)

Hera Syndulla (1)

Cassian is the best U-wing because of that EPT slot & his cost increase above the lower pilots is a smaller percentage than normal. My current favorite build uses Wired like you have. Rage or Expert Handling are also great options. After flying Cassian some you quickly realize that Hera crew is nearly auto-include.

Cassian Andor -- Wired, Sensor Jammer, Hera Syndulla, title (33 points) (fill extra crew slot to taste)

Sensor Jammer is underated. It doesn't matter if it takes an extra turn to 'Pivot' if you aren't taking as much damage. 36 points is approximately the max a Cassian build should go to.

What if in a new Rogue One pack they made a new type of crew. Which is limited to that ship type. Just throwing around ideas to see if you can get more value out of it.

U-Wing Only.

U-Wing Co-Pilot

When you take a focus action you may assign one evade token to your ship.
