are those lists really that fun?? imo, the AF needs more options. its either GH or Ackbar or go home.

And two of the world champs are: wave1 squad spam. wave5 GH broken squadron spam. I love the smell of nerfed squadron play.

I wouldn't rate any single Rebel ship as bad. Some are very selectively useful.

Now, If we can separate versions of ships out, then the GR-75 Combat Retrofits and the AFmk2 A are the bottom.

I love the pelta, i use it all the time. it's a pity there's only one type of pelta though, it would be crazy if someone thought putting black dice on a speed 2 ship, that would just be a waste. Yep...just one type of pelta out there.

I'm a big fan of the MC30 Torp and Pelta Assault, less so their counterparts.

GR75 Combat Retro fit for the biggest wooden spoon.

Honestly I don't think it's the speed 2 that's inherently a problem, it's the lack of a weapon team slot for Ordnance Experts. You can deal with the speed issue with Engine Techs if you want to, or just use it reactively like a VSD-I.

Now that External Racks exist, I honestly don't think it's nearly as bad as it used to be. It can be a very cheap platform for your Fleet Command upgrade while still punching hard at things that get too close. The problem is the hard punches are very swingy due to the red and black dice.

If my primary use for the Pelta is the Fleet Command upgrade, I use the Assault Pelta. The Blue-Black flak comes in handy.

I learned to fear those from a two Raider + Demo build agaisnt my 6 Rebel Aces list.

Maybe it is just me, but I am not sold on ships have to be fast to be good, I can not remember the last time I had a ship even close to max speed.

With 4 engineering I use for advanced projectors on my doompickle plus STM and it works out pretty well. External racks makes things pay for getting too close and decent flak is pretty nice too. It may not be amazing but it's got a good spot as a support ship.

objectively? I dunno I went with my opinion. I'm certainly not saying it's bad or anything. I just find myself using other ships more, and liking other ships more. Armada isn't JUST about winning tournaments - it's also about having fun too, so if something is good but you don't want to do it.... is it really THAT good? Objectively?

Like i'm sure rolling up with 19 Z-95s could be really good, but do you WANT to do that?

That's actually something I really want to do, just for the faces. I do not however want to buy 6 more fighter pack iis. For the record, I hate the AF MK II.

I've learned to respect Sato Pelta Assault Frigates. the right combination of APTs on your big ships from long range makes you reexamine them after a few games of average rolls. If it weren't for the lack of Ordnance Experts, they might actually be too powerful against ships without a strong Evade game such as ISDs, VSDs and MC80s.

I've gone up against it. He was using some TIEs as subs for Zs. I hated every second of it. The massive numbers in that Zerg rush completely overwhelmed my Decimators and wrecked my entire fighter wing then moved on afterwards and managed to kill 2 Arqs.

I was relived the AFMKII didn't place higher. It's the only Rebel Medium Ship, & stat wise it's great for almost any role at a good price.... but despite all that goodness, I could never get behind it, for the really dumb & vain reason it's an ugly ship & honestly non-canon; so it's no fun for me to fly on the table. I've been tempted to use it's card & base but fly it with one of those 3d printed MC-75's you can get, because I feel the AFMKII stats are pretty close to what I feel the MC-75 should & needs to be. But we'll probably get a real MC-75 announced soon to kill that plan.

I am a Imperial player, but have some of the Rebel stuff so if I find some one to play who does not have stuff they can make a fleet, but I will not get an Assault Frigate MK. II because as you said it is so ugly. Other than it I have one ship for each title for the rebels and at least that many for the Empire.

You know? I might actually have tried to find a place for the AFmk2 more if it was the MC-75. Part of my aversion to it is that it looks like a 2 Liter soda bottle rocket that had Been overpressurized

Not enough? It looks like somebody flipped a GSD upside down, threw bread knives into its back end, gave it an enema, and then reattached the umbilical cord.

Mind you, I think it plays fine and FFG did everything they could with the source material. My complaints are purely aesthetic.
