Ambience

By McHydesinyourpants, in Game Masters

I've been collecting up some videos/links etc for ambient background sound for during games. I have found a few great ones, mainly the ambience from the battleground games as well as some other things. I have yet to find a decent one for a straight up blaster fight. Anyone have any good links for some ambient background sounds? Specifically blaster fire.

Something along the lines of this:

...but with handheld blasters. Something I can use in a regular shoot out :P

Thanks Pirate. Have both of those in my bookmark folder already. Looking for more shooty sounds. Like a blaster fight in a cantina. Being picky, I know :P

I hope you find what you are looking for. In the meantime, I love this thread idea and I would be happy if you shared more of your favorites for the benefit of us all.

This is the closest to what I am looking for that I found but the blaster fire and explosions sound a little far off :P

Few things from my bookmarks :P It would be awesome if this would become a community dump for Star Warsy ambience tracks :D

So I might be in the minority here, but if you want to try Syrinscape (not free) they have soundscapes that you can alter that includes a "blaster battle" one. I use that and the "lightsword battle" ones for almost all my combat unless I want some epic music in which case I usually play both.

I use "alien cantina" to simulate a seedy cantina, and I have "shipboard" which plays ambient ship noise, and "abandoned space station" for a scarier feel. "Freedom city 2525" is nice to use when they are on a heavily populated planet like Coruscant.

Another app I use is DMDJ, it's more for D&D type settings but they have really good ambiance for most outdoor areas and even have some city/town sound effects to use when you are in smaller settlements. I particularly like the intensity setting, the fact that you can change it from day to night, add weather, and change the mix on the fly. Their music isn't half bad either if you want some background music for adventuring.

All in all you can definitely find stuff to use on youtube and other places, but having a couple apps to use on the fly is really convenient for me and I like the ability to change things as the players explore even if it costs a few bucks.

These are great. Thanks for posting them. I'll be using them in my games when I can

Sounds like they pulled a lot of stuff from The Old Republic MMO.

I like ambience tracks for my games but not enough to pay :P

I felt the same way, but after I downloaded the app and tried out free soundset (it might be blaster battle if you want to download it and see), I realized it's really nice to be able to modify it on the fly. I think I've maybe spent about $20-25 total for both apps and the few soundsets and I'm glad I did...

https://tabletopaudio.com/ lets you make custom soundpads and also has ambient sound templates that play for 10 minutes.

I GM on Roll 20 and Fantasy Grounds, and Roll 20 has a jukebox feature that connects to a website called Fanburst. A lot of SWRPG users have loaded SFX (speeders, ships, star destroyer explosions, the sounds the trees make whenever flying past them in a speeder bike, things like that.) You can also find edited music, battle ambience, etc on there. You will find blaster shootouts on there as well.

Edit: Found some
Stormtrooper Attack

Blaster battle with sabers added in

Blasters only

Blasters w/ Music and infantry support

The usernames Piv, Pedexing, and Jacque seem to have some really good stuff on there
