New Player looking for advice!

Hi everyone! I have a skeleton of a list and I am wondering how to round it out. I play Imperial and don't have many ships (but can flex a little if there's one buy or two standing in the way.) I like the VSD and own two of them, and I was considering using them in a carrier role backed by some Gozantis. So far we have something like this:

Motti
VSD-II + Flight Controllers
VSD-II + Flight Controllers
Gozanti Cruiser + Bomber Command Center
Gozanti Cruiser + Comms Net
Gozanti Cruiser + Comms Net
A fighter ball with a couple of Lambda shuttles in it for Relay/Strategic shenanigans

Currently: 322/400

I was informed that Major Rhymer was nerfed, so I am not sure what a modern Imperial swarm looks like these days. I notice also that VSD-II is expensive and maybe want to drop those to VSD-I. What do you all think?

If you're just using the Vics as carriers drop them down to a Vic1. I've been running Vic IIs like this...

- Disposable Capacitors ( 3 points)
- Quad Battery Turrets ( 5 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)

You'll have to pick up a Quasar to get the necessary upgrades but if you like running fighter builds than the Quasar makes a great dedicated carrier option.

Yes a gunnery VSD2 as @Megatronrex says and a VSD1 with flight controllers, expanded hangar or boosted comms, external racks and maybe a flight commander. Then add a Quasar or 2 Gozantis and a fighter force. 4 Tie-B, Dengar, a Tie-A or Zertek and Mauler. Then pad out with maybe a second escort and a way of tweaking enemy Intel by ignoring escort such as Sniping Sabre squadron or IG88.

Something like this? I know it doesn't have the strategic/relay the op was wanting, but I'm sure you could shuffle some stuff around to fit one.

I've never really been interested in the vics with bombers list before, but I gotta admit this one has me intruiged, I may have to try it myself sometime

You could try this if you want an alternative bomber wing that has strategic and relay but it's 3 squads less than what @MandalorianMoosesuggested.

Steele, Jendon, Zertik, 1 x Lambda, 3 x Defenders. 119points just like Moose's
