small question regarding Assault on Ulthuan

By lord nekrah, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Might anyone know does Assault on Ulthuan include three of all cards or will it be like core set ? Just wondering do I have to make three pre-orders at my FLGS...

Considering that the 3 copies LCG change was announced recently, I'm betting that the expansion and all the corruption cycle battlepacks are all based off the original LCG format (non 3 copies).

It was mentioned in the LCG article that big box expansions won't include 3 of each card in the future. They rather create interesing and working 40 card decks with more variables as in the core set.

Not necessarily true as the recently announced Kings of Winter for AgoT has 3 of every card in it.

I don't think the elves expansion count as a battle pack (which is what the article says will have the 3 of every kind change). I think its more like a core set (which is confirmed in the article that they will not have 3 of every card).

And on larger expansions they say "we’re looking to move most of our special expansion to a three copies of each card/set, if the scope of the expansion allows it." which is a maybe.

Final point : Except if I'm completely dumb in math 40 cards could not be solved by 3 of each card. And it's already confirmed that they are 40 card decks for them. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I believe it will be 60 Cards and cost a little more per pack, but you will only have to buy one pack.

"Assault on Ulthuan contains two core starter decks of forty cards, as well as two capital boards for the Dark Elves and High Elves. Players of the existing factions will find plenty to aid them as well; new cards for the other four factions, plus a handful of neutrals, bring a host of new strategies, tactics, and deck-building options for each of the six races in the game."

Some have speculated on 100, 120 cards for the whole box.

Does anyone really think there were "playable" decks in the Core set? Do you remember what the decks looked like? One had all the drafting special cards compromising -half- of the deck. Another had all of the neutrals including all of the alliance cards. Two totally -not playable- stacks of cards. The other two decks -could possibly- be a tiny little bit playable?!?! Maybe, but not really. If FFG is gonna advertise the core boxes as containing "playable" decks, they should actually follow through and put "playable" decks in the box. Like the MTG pre-constructed decks.

Uh, yeah, they were. Played with just one copy of the Core for a good long while. (Picked mine up at GenCon.) What the heck did your Core set look like? Was there a special print run that didn't come with the four 40-ish card faction decks or something?

The Elf set was set for printing and packaging before the announcement. All sets being developed from the date of the announcement forward will contain 3 of every card.

They specifically said except for the large box sets, like the core set and the elf box. BP's will have 60 cards, thats the only thing changing.

That exception was specific to Assault on Ulthuan as far as I can tell. The wording seems to imply they want to make the cnage for everything in the LCG line but didn't want to get locked into it before they found out how the market responded. With the Stark Deluxe Expansion in A Game of Thrones being the first of this type coming outin the Spring since the implementation of the new model, I suspect if it does well all LCG product going forward will follow its lead.
