PSA: There's another one. . .

By GhostofNobodyInParticular, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello! I am writing the PSA to inform everybody of the glad tidings! Another mafia game is beginning! If you liked the previous, or want to see what we are doing over in the off-topic forum, then don't hesitate to pop over and sign up!

It's very fun, I can assure you, and is a great way to spend your time. Just ask anyone who has already done so! You'll be addicted for sure!

I highly recommend these games. Not only are they fun, but you get to backstab your fellow forum members!

What could be better than that?

Bump. :)

Less than 24 hours left to register, if anyone's still interested.

What exactly is it?

You may know it by other names. It originally was a card game. The basic premise is that there is a threat to the 'town', and that this threat must be eradicated. Everybody is assigned a role, and they must fulfill certain conditions that their role dictates. The basic way it works is that the game is split into two sections - day, and night.

In the day, everybody gets together and discusses who they should 'lynch'. They analyze comments, phrasings, intent, etc. to see if somebody comes off as suspicious, nervous, eager to kill, and decide if that is a 'scum tell' (a slip-up from those players assigned the role of Mafia - the 'bad guys'). Once the time has run out, or the players have voted somebody dead (hammer is the term used for a majority of votes against 1 person) the day goes into night.

During the Night, the Mafia get together to discuss who to night-kill, and other 'power-roles' perform their abilities - cops investigate roles, docs protect people, and so on. When the time is up or every action has been completed, the night ends and a new day-night cycle is begun. This goes on until one side has achieved its win condition.

If the Mafia outnumbers town, they win, game over. If the town has eliminated all mafia, they win, game over. Sometimes there are third parties with separate win conditions.

Ok I see, so a lot of this is done by private message and such?

Sounds good.

Sounds good.

Well the day stuff all takes place in-thread. The scum talk is usually conducted through a private google doc, and other actions are sent in through PM, yes.

I'd really recommend it! It doesn't matter your skill level, it is always some franatic fun and it really improves your analytical abilities!

Game's begun. Anybody want a link to the observer's chat?
