Sorry I am so late to this, been a long week and I found it harder than normal to crawl out of the hole I was hiding in.
I will also be at Disneyland with the family today, and store champs tomorrow. Won't be inactive per say, but if someone thinks I should be more active, just link my name so I get a notification and know to swing by.

So we seem to have a self-aware miller, great. Only way to prove it is hanging or gunsmith, which I'm presuming we don't have one. I'm willing to believe it for now.

So im inclined to believe this, cuz he got in front of it...but oh man this would be a sick fake claim
The thing is, you could have a plan to do this at the beginning of the day once you received that you are mafia. Because as scum, you want the most to look like you are not making up stuff and that you are using your PM as a source of information to answer all questions about your role, so having a solid plan with everything prepared is something mafia tend to do, claiming miller at the beginning of the day looks better than claiming after the cop says he has results, as it doesn't feel like you are doing it defensively as in the latter. So potentially, it could be just a plan like all others.
On the other hand, obviously he doesn't town to waste time on investigating him and losing a whole day + a cop claim for that, and is looking for the town's best interest, and the mafia don't want to kill him, because he can always looks suspicious of what I just posted above, and so they can try to get town to hang him.
A miller claim in the start of D1 is very hard to judge
Hrm. I say we take off, nuke the Miller from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
I figured it was only helpful to the town to get it out there.
It would be a great scum move too, which is why if you are going to hang me please do it now so I can get to the obvserver doc.
i don't look up roles outside of the games, so I didn't even know this role existed till I got my PM, in which GNiPs actually apologized that rng gave me this role.
I really believe JJ is what he says he is.
Wouldn't hurt to give it a night. I mean the scumminess of the claim is out there, so if we hit a wall later we can test it, but it could work really in favor of town too, so I say let it ride.
Agreed. As a scum play it would be too risky to place yourself on the map willingly on day 1.
Just a few quick hits, working off the assumption that JJ's claim is accurate (which again, I am strongly inclined to believe), the number of players, my own role pm, and the general intention by Slippy Nippy to make this game...lets says Biggsian? None of these are for certain, obviously. But I hypotheisze that;
-There is a faction cop, or items which serve that fuctionality, out there
-There is a role cop, or items which serve that functionality, out there.
-There are at least three possible alignments
-There are at least 2 scum aligned players. They may or may not be coordinated. I lean towards 2, uncoordinated, but we should probably assume they have at least night chat.

Or, he works as a named townie and the role is just misleading us to believe there is a cop role. This is why miller can be a smart scum plan, if no cop shows up you can "work out" with town that it was misleading. I'm still inclined to believe in him tho

What makes it truly brilliant, if he were scum, is that its not really a bluff worth calling until late game.

Completely and totally agree. Don't worry, Oni, Biker, Gink, and Nippy will get their own votes at some point. This hashtag ain't going anywhere any time soon.
I'm willing to believe JJ for now. I like that he got out ahead of it. Yes, it could be a brilliant scum move, but he was under zero pressure. If it had come later in day one after a bit of prodding, it would be a bit more suspect. As was said, if it had been claimed post-investigation, there's no way I'd believe it. If there's one thing I've learned so far in this game, it's that simple explanations are the best. The town usually loses because we get wrapped up in insanely complicated theories. The simplest reason for JJ to claim with his first post is that he got a crap role and wanted to get out ahead of it. Therefore, I'm rolling with that until such a time as his voting record and actions shows otherwise.
Also, if we have a gunsmith, this is the perfect use of their ability tonight.
Checking in, I agree with the majority that JJ's claim seems alright, we can always look into it later.
Can someone explain to me what a gunsmith does exactly?
