UK Nationals Breakfast

By SmurfWedge, in Star Wars: Armada

Hehe - I've yet to play a game against another person (see my thread below). So it would not be fair on other players. I'll likely won't get down there until after work anyway.

Breakfast places: just been looking and so many of them only open at 9am :/ There's an All Bar One on Derby Square that opens at 8am. That's about a 10 min-ish walk. If you're coming from the City Centre proper, you can stop there and then go on to the ACC.

Hope that helps and good luck! Maybe I'll see some of you later on in the day (I'll be the puzzled looking tall spectator with glasses!)

If cost is an issue why on earth are you considering a CCG???

Cost for Expo is not an issue as I have a few months to save up :), finding a few hundred spare in September after my 4 have just had all new stuff for school and a cruise and xmas to pay for is a nightmare!! Destiny I play to enjoy so I'm keeping the cost low and trading and selling promos and big cards keeps the cost right down and I'm not chasing the meta and expensive stuff

Cost isnt the issue. Bending over a table for 12 hours stressing over plastic models is the issue for Plagueis, he realised that last year. :D Good on him, though must attend Euros breakfast either way.

My body has been failing apart for years... but I swim daily and hit the gym now so hopefully my back can cope with a day of Armada in future :) but somewhere like Expo with so much going on and things to play I think a game that involves less of my time Is going to be a priority. Destiny stresses me as much as Armada does but it's more relaxing kicking back and playing and you don't need to carry around so much stuff :).

If I play Armada it will be a one day gig for me but will come down to schedule of other events on. But I will have ships with me to play a casual game with anyone looking to fill time..

and the most important thing of all I will be there for breakfast... and as I'm only around the corner at the hotel I can even enjoy a cheeky pint or two

What do we know about the format of the day? All I can see is that registration ends at 9am, so could be a 4 or 5 round day. And that there is a cut on Saturday, but no idea how many are in the cut!

Anyone got insider info?

I believe it's a 4 round day and top 2 cut but can't find the info now! From what the email said about registration and security/bag checks etc it looks like breakfast might have to be a rushed affair!

What do British Armada players favor for breakfast?

Beans on toast? Bangers? Eggs? Bacon? Bubbles and squeak? Black pudding?

Do you prefer Marmite on your ISD, or perhaps fried Admonition? Topped with a sprinkling of TIEs?

Dude, I'm not even in the UK and I would take any and all of those for an Armada breakfast.

At least until the Marmite section.

Vegemite is the only true spreadable beer.

Good morning Armada Players, we'd just like to give you a quick update as to ticket sales for the National Championship event & proposed round structure:

So far, we have sold 33 Armada tickets, if we managed to gather another 17 players by the day, the winner will be getting a flight and accommodation at the World Championship. Based off the current Ticket Sales and the FFG Advanced Tournament Structure we will be using, you will all be playing 4 Rounds with a Top 2 Cut. However, if another 12 players book tickets, you will all get a 5th round!

Given that tickets closed on Monday and they've agreed to open them again (any time now - I still haven't decided whether to get one - I should do that soon) there's a good chance they'll sell 12 more tickets by Friday morning - so maybe 5 rounds.

If they are doing 5 rounds I really hope they agree to push at least one round to Saturday; 11 and a quarter hours of Armada seems a bit much for one day...

[The schedule stuff is here.]

[Apparently some emails went out to people this evening - not sure what that included.]

If its 5 rounds then they will do it on the same day.....just like last year.

Warning! Its brutal on the knees and brain. Good luck for those flying MSU or huge squadrons balls. haha

Also whether its a 4 or 5 round day there will only be a top 2 cut to Saturday.

The emails that went out were making sure that those who had purchased multiple tickets send through the participant names to Esdevium so it helps speed up registration.

Chaps just been looking into the timing and I don't reckon we will be able to get this done.

Unfortunately nothing opens up earlier than 8 and with kickoff of Game 1 at 9.00 I don't reckon we will be able to do sit down breakfast. We will need to register (also extra security checks) and then actually get set up and stuff. Esdevium have also recommended to give extra time to register and get into the venue. So may need to cancel the sit down portion of this.

They do breakfast muffins or buttys to go so will be doing that instead and then heading down to the arena.

On the other hand we could do this on the Saturday morning if anyone is up for that........considering the final only kicks off at 10.30 and side events start at 12.00

I agree Smurf. Just glad I wasnt the one to ruin the party, :D but I was thinking it.

Should I suggest an ES Nationals LUNCH?

@Jammers and I just bought our tickets but it will be a 6am train so we may have to skip breakfast.

And I've finally booked my ticket as well; driving up late Thursday.

Hopefully there will be time for lunch at some point on Friday.

Now to pick which list to go with. The BTAvenger list seems safer, but the Double-MC80s might be more fun (and have fewer squadrons, so hopefully quicker games)... The other can wait for Saturday (assuming at least some people are staying that long).

Hahahahaha

Bring snacks to be safe

Lunch......we might have time for lunch....if we only have 4 rounds

If we have 5 rounds there is no such thing. Last year it was round after round only finishing up at around 23:30

Bring water, snacks and headache tablets. Haha

Well if its 5 rounds we can go for a curry afterwards.:(

5:15 wake up - 6:00 train - 9:00 registration - 5 Rounds of Armada - I'll be the one fast asleep in a pile of poppadoms and Dupiaza.

Oh how it comes flooding back, staggering back to my hotel room in a daze. I expect we are going to see 40 to 45 people, it really depends on what they want to do, there is a lot of flexibility in the actual structure of events, as quite a few don't follow the layout in the regulations.

On the off chance does anyone have a spare vcx card I could borrow? I've left mine at home...

I'm not using mine, will bring it along.

Have a look for a fleet on the table of MC80c, Yavaris and 2 GR75s.

Thank you very much, I definitely owe you a drink.

Are you bringing all the b-wings?

Guys - I've made a last minute list change and now am looking to borrow two Firesprays if anyone can help me out please? Beer will be paid in return of course! Thanks for considering!

Alas yes, I think you are right. See you all there!
