UK Nationals Breakfast

By SmurfWedge, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey guys

If anyone else had made a thread for this then apologies.

From reading all the other posts from our American neighbours about pre-tournament breakfasts, I was thinking it could be a good idea to try and get one going before the UK Nationals on the Friday morning.....its only 5 weeks away.

I'm not sure what the best place to go but I found a place that seems close enough by to the venue. Its called the Pump House and it opens at 8am - pumphouse-liverpool.co.uk

Hopefully its early enough before the tournament starts as I'm currently unsure of start times.

I'm sure my fellow club mates @AdmiralRyan & @*Lord Preyer will be coming down.

Who would be up for that?

Count me in, sounds like a superb idea!

Count me in!

Great shout. Looks like very few options open before 0900 in Liverpool for breakfast!

Although Armada registration starts at 0800 and closes at 0900, so might have to be a quick one...

I reckon its do-able. Get there for 8am, done in 30 mins, Full English and coffee. Quick stroll down to the arena.

Just putting this back out there for anyone attending UK Nationals next week.

Oh wow. Didn't realise that this event was going to be in my home town! Not remotely good enough to play but I wonder if I can attend as a spectator?

Anyway - there's plenty of other places to get breakfast over the road in the Liverpool One shopping area. 5 mins away from the ACC, just incase you don't want to go to the Pumphouse.

Play anyway. It's open to all, and you will have a great time learning the competition environment

Burni, play. The experience will be invaluable when you do feel ready and it probably wont be on your doorstep again.

Fly something flexible and you are unlikely to have only hard games.

As Gink and Dras have said above, just go play. My first 3 games ever were at a tournament and I lost all three games, but I learned a LOT about the game. This community is a pretty awesome one and guys/gals are always happy to explain rules/card interactions or walk through attack/defense/maneuver steps to newer players

Do we know how many rounds we have?

^^ this - my first tournament was after 2 learning games; managed to scrape 3rd though with a pretty vanilla fleet, not entirely sure how!

No better way to learn than playing the game, and no better way to get live games in than at a tournament - as is widely mentioned the vast majority of players are really friendly and helpful no matter their level of experience or skill.

Dude, play. You'll have a great time. Without exception, I have found that the Armada community is one of (if not the) nicest gaming communities in the world.

Everyone was a new player once, and I dare say many of us would love the chance to have our first tournament again!

Thanks for the tips on where to eat. Nudging @SmurfWedge ;something to think about?

Can you recommend anything else in Liverpool One mate? Just found the Pump House as they were the only one open early enough that would enable us to get to registration on time.

Also Definitely come through and play mate. Especially as the only cost you have is the ticket.

You will learn loads and meet great people from the community.

I think we will leave it as the Pump House. Shout out if you're keen to come through. Will be there for 8am opening time

I'll be there with a mate. Getting into Liverpool about 7.45, going to registration first to get it out the way, then will head to Pumphouse

I'm now booked in as well so will be joining for a quick breakfast.

Distance and cost have made this one a no go for me :( but I will be attending Euros again....

Even got a local hotel booked for euros so no pillow issues next year.... but depending on the game schedule I might dip into Destiny instead!!!

If cost is an issue why on earth are you considering a CCG???

Cost isnt the issue. Bending over a table for 12 hours stressing over plastic models is the issue for Plagueis, he realised that last year. :D Good on him, though must attend Euros breakfast either way.
