Robots squad for a champ

By jgif, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Sup guys, so I'm close to my first championship, and kind of without much choice of squad, so I'll fly with two IGs, but I made a small modification to their standard build. It looks like this:

IG-88B — Aggressor 36
Crack Shot 1
Fire-Control System 2
Heavy Laser Cannon 7
Glitterstim 2
Autothrusters 2
IG-2000 0
Ship Total: 50
IG-88C — Aggressor 36
Crack Shot 1
Fire-Control System 2
"Mangler" Cannon 4
Proximity Mines 3
Glitterstim 2
Autothrusters 2
IG-2000 0

Ship Total: 50

Basically I changed the build of the IG-88C leaving him with a flight closer to the enemy. What I wanted to know is, is it worth it? What else could I change with the 88C? Anything that can help me is welcome.

I don't know if proxies are worth it. I'm sure there are certain situations when they are, but there are many other things you could do with the points.

Have you ever tried the advanced sensors build of the brobots? I went up against that for the first time and it is crazy. Especially when your opponent advanced sensors to boost, than does their maneuver. He did a 4-K behind me from a spot that I didn't realize was possible. It makes them very unpredictable.

I've never tried advanced sensor, but with you speaking it seems like something interesting to use. Thank you very much. I will try

Advanced Sensors + Wired is a tough combo. @Jeff Wilder runs em like that and does well. That boost and sloop is like playing against a large base Striker.

Really looks like a good comboi

I was playing 2 versions of Brobots in friendly games with great success.

First is classic:

Aggressor: •IG-88B (50)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Inertial Dampeners (1)

Aggressor: •IG-88C (50)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Inertial Dampeners (1)

Total: 100/100

Second is to get 3 actions on each (boost, free evade from Charlie, focus or TL from PtL) but limiting firepower:

Aggressor: •IG-88B (51)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)
Push the Limit (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Aggressor: •IG-88C (48)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)
Push the Limit (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)

Total: 99/100

Third is untested yet:

Aggressor: •IG-88B (50)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)
Crack Shot (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Glitterstim (2)

Aggressor: •IG-88C (50)
Autothrusters (2)
IG-2000 (0)
Crack Shot (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Glitterstim (2)

Total: 100/100

My frist squad ever was exactly this. They haven't kept up with the raw damage output of more recent lists, and really suffer for stressing themselves. That said, they are a blast to play, and I wholeheartedly endorse them.

I've wanted to run @Jeff Wilder 's Advanced Sensor/Wired combo, maybe with something funky in those cannon slots, but alas, I was playing all the other Scums...

**** my fickle heart.
