New lego set implications? Spoilers?

By Betjajun, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

Just wondering having seen the new lego sets...

Were these the ships in the teaser trailer which we wondered might make flotilla or new small capital ships? Assuming they are, the lego might suggest more squadrons than that.

Do the resistqnce not have any capital ships in this film either?

I guess leia and ackabar are on the bridge of something? But evem that could be a beaten old home one

Well, a Hangar is seen to be blowing up, that trends to capital ship of some kind .

You'd think a Ground Base hangar would be bigger.

But are they bigger than say a Decimator or VCX-100?

Well it has 3 turrets plus the cockpit so I would say it needs 4-6 people to operate it. Considering that it is a bomber I would say it will be smaller than either of those.

It also comes with 5 minifigs.

The scarier and more important question is will there ever be expansions for Armada based on Lego's Freemaker Adventures. Will we get Zander Freemaker super-star rebel pilot in the Star Scavenger? MOC in a modified Phantom? How will they handle the implementation of the Arrowhead and what should it cost? These are the questions that keep me awake at night. That and the children's cartoons I'm far too old to be watching.

If the background for the images represents actual happenings in the film, the bombers will be facing against the resurgent-class in a space battle above the planet, probably where a Mandator-IV will also appear in an assault against the Resistance base. Hoping for an epic battle

One of, there seem to be many, this is a full scale planetary assault, really want there to be an AMAZING space battle, like Coruscant or Scarrif

They seem slightly bigger than say a YT-1300?

Resistance bomber

There is a moment where a TIE crashes against one of it's wings. I used that to measure the ship and it is about 90m long

90m is nearly the size of a cr90? Hmm...

So flotilla size, or small base of its own right?

According to my quick Canon Search:

The Ghost is 43m long (And, X-Wing, despite its faults, really does show us what the largest ship would be in the unified 1/270 scale - the Ghost is HUGE there)

A Gozanti is 63m long.

The only listed length I could find for the GR75 is 90m long.

Corvettes are 126m long.

I seemed to remember Vettes being around 120, so 126 is fine, but I didn't know where the Zanti or Transport were length wise. Hmm.... So maybe a combat flotilla? It could go either way honestly, but probably a flotilla.

If it is the same length as a GR-75, what else would it be? Making it a squadron makes one wonder why not a flotilla, and making it a ship makes one wonder why the GR-75 isn't a ship.

The size difference from Zanti > Transport > CR90 are all ```roughly 30m jumps. IMO if the transport is at the tippy top end of flotilla size then it bears at least a little thought that it could end up a small base in it's own right thanks to sliding scale. If we see the two ships together and this one is even a little bit bigger then it might end up going small instead of flotilla.

That said, it could also end up being a combat oriented flotilla, which I would also be fine with.

I think it's around a flotilla size, if you take a rough estimate of the size of the turrets, and try to use it to measure the ship, I think it definitely comes around the 90m mark
