Indomitable Strength
So the only new thing is that Visored Helms equipment upgrade. It's interesting, but costly. Since these guys have such late activation for movement, it could be nice. But then, if you think you might be charged, you don't exactly want to set a march command, do you? But I love the white march so that they can keep going forward no matter what action they take.
Visored helms on Rune Golems? They activate late often.
The visored helms are way overcosted. They want to be on small units where shield wall doesn't work as well and takes the equipment slot too. Ugh.
Had they already revealed Column Tactics? Either way I love the flexibility of that card. Anything that gives me more customization options for how my army is set up is a good thing in my book.

Would rather take Wind Rune honestly.

Yeah they had for some other expansion, an elf one maybe? Anyway, I wonder if this is as useful for ranged units. You kinda want nice wide unit for better LOS angles. It'd be great for 1x4 cavalry though, so they could fit throw some gaps.
I love the idea of Visored Helms on Reanimate Archers because cavalry can come in and destroy them. But in most of my games, nobody reaches te archers before the end of the game, and 7 points is too heavy to let languish unused on a unit. Or maybe it's fine as a contingency, I don't know. I'm still figuring out how to build armies to their reach their highest potential.

Daqan only.

Too bad the Undead don't have something like this, then.

Right. Missed that.
EDIT: Well, it makes it easy to stick with Wind Rune or Tempered Steel, then. Or no equipment, which is fine.
Edited by ParakitorVisored Helms could be such a life saver though... especially if you can avoid heavy damage from that first attack in a mirror match.

Yea but it is so expensive and there are a lot more viable equipment options.
I like it, maybe pair with the raven-standard bearer and delay your activation if needed.

I don't think the value is even limited to the first attack. In a mirror match, when you're locked in combat, if your initiative values are the same, you switch who attacks first each turn. With this card, every round* you attack second, you take less damage than they do. If you equip your Spearmen with this upgrade, then not only do you get to increase your defense, but you also get to dial in the initiative 7 attack and add a hit result. In such a scenario, I can definitely see why it's 7 points.
* I say "every round" because Daqan are good at getting inspiration tokens and rally, so readying exhausted cards is a trivial matter.

It also doesn't have the bad habit of shield wall helping a good once, as you lost too many trays in a round.
I don't know. I want to like this upgrade but opportunity cost and points cost say no for me.
The design team really needs to decide if Daqan are supposed to be the heavy hitter faction, or the tanky faction. They should not be both at once.

Honestly they aren't either.

Yeah, it was previewed with Leonx Riders, because it's what makes their 1x3 deployment formation work.

Luckily daqan has Hawthorne to mess with trays.
But Daqan can't use Leonx.

I think it was more a column tactics isn't that useful for daqan, because Hawthorne?

Ah I see. Well that would be subjective, but it's not a bad assertion.

Can't they? ;-)
