FFG and Artists

By SHARKOSAURUS, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

First off, apologies if this is the wrong place to post this, but with GenCon approaching I'm curious: what's FFG's stance on artists selling playmats? I know one of my favorite things during the AEG days was the ability to find those artists at cons and buy playmats of their cards. Does anyone know if FFG allows this?

Apologies if this is a dumb question. I'm not a smart man.

Depends on the contract they signed with the artist, but it seems most of the time FFG retains the exclusive rights to reprint the art on things like mats since they do this specific thing as prize support for tournaments and organized play. That said I have seen some Netrunner artists selling Netrunner art prints on their websites. So it does seem like in some cases the artist holds onto some ability to resell the art.

Thanks for the response! Worst case scenario I'll go to some of my favorite AEG artists and see if they have some mats around.
