How Much Manipulation Do You Do?

By subtrendy2, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Yeah, it's complicated. The hardest things are the beginning and the end. :D

Getting the mission sheet to be presentable is the least of the worries. I have an openoffice "template" now. I created an IA symbol font, downloaded the Agency FB font. I use the Vassal IA Campaign module to build maps, Gimp to cut to size to import to the document.

I'm in the third iteration of The Cargo, changing the beginning (both map, entrance, and initial deployment positions) to speed it up, some cleanup of mission rules. Hopefully the next play will get the rebels closer to their objective as well.

On the other hand, it's a big map (almost all Core+Twin Shadows desert tiles), and allows different strategies, so there are limits to how much it can be balanced -- like all missions.

(Yeah, there are so many official missions I have not played yet that playing user-created campaigns hasn't been attractive.)

I have created a mission largely inspired by the Shadows of the Empire video game mission called Gall Spaceport (a game on N64 that I have played countless of hours when I was younger). The heroes, accompanied by smuggler Dash Rendar, must rescue carbonite frozen Han Solo from Boba Fett.

I've play tested it only twice and both Empire and Rebel won one game each (close ones I must say). Obviously this is no statement that the game is balanced as both play tests were done with the same 4 heroes, the same upgrades, the same open groups, etc. Nonetheless I would be willing to share it with others who might want to give it a try. However, right now the mission briefing is on a simple generic word file. I saw your cargo PDF and would really like to achieve such presentation before sharing it (although it is not mandatory). Would you mind sharing your Openoffice template? Or if I send you my word document and of course if you have time, would you mind creating the pdf?

I will totally respect and understand if you don't have time/don't want to/ can not. Like I said it would have been nice for me to put my custom mission in a format closer to the game but I can definitely live without that.

The .odt is also probably still here:

You probably need the IA symbol font, AgencyFB, and something akin to Times (my openoffice has Tinos).
