Genesys Podcast?

By copperbell, in Genesys

With their Star Wars game having a few podcasts dedicated to it I was wondering if anyone was planning on establishing one for Genesys?

Would be nice but without even a single bit of clue there would be no point at the moment. You do not even know if you would like it at all, aside from the usuall skill checks we know from SW everything else is just a big questionmark. Maybe around December would be my guess, or at the beginning of the coming year.

I am pretty sure the crew at Order 66 podcast might also cover the GENESYS , might want to text GM Chris or Dave there, They would let you know if they will be covering the system.

I may know of a couple people who are planning a Genesys podcast.

;)

Me and a few friends are planning one as well. Just need to get our schedules to mesh.

Whoever releases podcasts please post links to the feed, instant subscriber right here!

I bet their will be a lot of info after the GenCon demo (just over a week to go). I hope someone who gets to participate in that does one. Like others said please post hear so we can all enjoy!

Hope they will base it off of Order 66, they have a great podcast and has a lot of information on top of just what is inside the books.Others would post or call in saying how they use the information in the books for their games as well to help others in their campaigns.

Aww shucks. We're glad you enjoy it.

So - it's not a secret (we've announced it on the show) that d20Radio WILL be having a GeneSys focused podcast. (Probably, eventually, more than one.) While Order 66 will continue to focus on Star Wars, the hosts will be working closely with the new show, which is called "The Dice Pool". ("Water's great... jump on in!")

It will be helmed by d20Radio veteran writers and contributors; specifically, our own Aussie-with-the-mostie, GM Hooly. ;)

Ha! The honorable GM Phil and Chris in da house! :D I remember the skype session from the 2013 " The New Order 66 Podcast "KS with joy!

So any update on this?

Sadly seems the focus has shifted to the new L5R RPG. A L5R podcast sadly seems more propable in this stage.

@GM Hooly is making both live play episodes and discussion episodes. I'm led to believe they are awaiting more content announcements before their first episode drops

That's what I understand, yes.

Very cool. :)

Why "The Dice Pool" though???

Narrative dice, "The Dice Pool" sounds like a fair description for a Generic game system intended to cover alot of potential campaigns and adventure possibilities!

Hope they release more information on the settings they're planning on using Genesys with soon!

Plus you can throw in cheesy one-liners into the cast such as "Come on in, people. The water is fine" to play off the pool aspect.

We will certainly be providing more information as we are able. Good podcasts take time, and we are only really beginners in this field. If you have heard my "Gaming TidBits with GM Hooly" that plays on the Order 66 Podcast, you would know I take production value very seriously, and hope to bring that to this podcast as well.

We have recorded our first episode, and I hope to bring that to the general populace soon.

I think mate, you should be doing us a solid as a country and really upping the Aussie-isms for the international audience.

For example, if you can't refer to a predicament as a "real **** sanger" then is it even a predicament?

Glad to see "The Dice Pool" will be coming out soon, as well as any others. I can't imagine there will be to much in the way of podcasts yet, as there's just so little information out there. Once we have some real books or at least a major drop of content there will be something to actually talk about. I am a bit surprised that FFG hasn't pumped The Hype Train up a little more then they are. Outside of reading about it on this forum I've seen virtually nothing being put out int he way of marketing.

I'll look forward for the Dice Pool...

I would recommend also One Shot... they're a great group and their companion podcast (one of them) is Campaign which is dedicated to FFG's Star Wars so this should be right up their alley...

Yes there are a lot of us befuddled by the sparse amount of hard info FFG is letting out for something that's supposedly sent to the printers...

I keep hearing this, but I have no idea realistically what they're meant to say?

Interviews with designers on various podcasts, releasing more previews, showing us the table of contents. Things like that. Of course they aren't required to do any of this but it would be nice.

Or for example, from the Craft Your Character article, I quote: " Experience can be spent to improve your character’s characteristics, buy ranks in skills, and purchase talents. We’ll talk more about some of the talents and skills you can find in Genesys later." Well, it's later...

The things is there are examples of successful hype campaigns that got buzz going and probably greatly increased the success of products (remember the D&D 3e days? Or more recently Starfinder). Ulisses Spiele was putting out tons of info on Torg and they have a forum presence that will talk rules. I know so much more about that product than Genesys and they're coming out pretty close together... There is comparatively little being said by FFG about their product, there are hints that it's going to be great... let's get people who haven't already preordered it excited!

I can suggest all sorts of topics... where do talents come from? how detailed are they going to get about the 5 settings? Are they just a few fluff paragraphs? are there specialized rules/careers/talents/etc for each? They really ought to pick one and flesh it out to give us a sense of what the settings are going to be like. etc. etc. ad nausium.

Like fjw70 above says get on podcasts, get more articles on the web, show us stuff!

I'll just come out and say the ugly truth: the lack of hype is causing some folks to wonder if this system, great or not, is going to get the support it needs to survive.

I wonder (the cynical side of me) if the reason for lack of info is that if they give too much, people could take that to hack SW and then not buy the book. The beancounters are worried so not enough info.
