Role Cards - Unbalancing the Game?

The problem is, that crab is really weak at pol, so it's really difficult to defend it.

I would concede they are weaker than average in political, but they have enough political strength to hold up in defense. At least in my experience playing them.

Dragon Clan

Best Role - Keeper of Void

Why it will turn the meta in the Dragon's favor: The Dragon's focus on attachments will mean that they will really want to keep their powered-up characters around. By controlling the Ring of Void not only are the Dragon keeping their characters around longer, but also all those attachments.

Why it won't matter: When it does matter, Dragon will play with making sure they win that ring defense. Otherwise a good Dragon player will not over invest on anyone one character that losing a turn on a character ruins their game.

Honorable mentions for good Roles:

Keeper of Fire - It is another power-up for Dragon characters - or a way to prevent them from being weakened.

Keeper of Earth - With their reliance on attachments, more card draw will be of major benefit for the Dragon

The more I think about this the more I feel these Role Cards are not really going to unbalance the game any further than what it might already be. They are going to do what the designers intended - they are going to shake up how you approach a match with a specific clan every year.

I think that's what the general consensus is starting to come down to after the emotional high of the reveal.

Listen, I struggle to suspend my disbelief for my favorite game of samurai action cards. Asking me to believe nerds have ever overreacted is just preposterous.
