I'm new to Scum, and I want a Mist Hunter.

By GreenLantern1138, in X-Wing

Hi everyone. Sorry I didn't reply for a while (I usually hate it when OPs abandon threads). I wasn't saying it was a bad ship, I meant like 'bad' in sarcastic air quotes because most people I spoke to told me it was bad. This has been a really positive thread though. I'm getting one for sure.

Its fun ship! I have one also. I have fly her so much lately, but last night I almost took her out, but did last minute change in my list, just how it goes!! :)

I think that Mist Hunter is a B wing but without interesting pilots. B wing has one of the most interesting collection of pilots i ever seen in a ship (I don't care if they are good/bad/meta breakers, just fun to fly and give interesting combinations). All of them compensate the lacks of the B Wing in some way or another.

In the Mist Hunter I think the only pilot who makes this is 4-Lom, and I like it. I like it so much (I like to play it with a Z95 that "carries" his Stress Tokens, until he get to Distance 1 to another imp ship).

In order to think in a power list, or just simply a hate-generator list, I would like to fly this list (Sadly, I do not have the shadow caster) based in spam stress and tractor beam tokens to the enemy.

100 points

PILOTS

4-LOM (35)
G-1A Starfighter (27), Push the Limit (3), Dengar (3), Black Market Slicer Tools (1), Mist Hunter (0), Tractor beam (1)

Asajj Ventress (47)
Lancer-class Pursuit Craft (37), Expertise (4), Latts Razzi (2), Black Market Slicer Tools (1), Shadow Caster (3)

Jakku Gunrunner (18)
Quadjumper (15), Ketsu Onyo (1), Spacetug Tractor Array (2)

Edit: I won the last 3 4 casual games using Misthunters. The most recent game I had 2 Misthunters and I will stick with that build for a while. I will upgrade from the PS3 Ruthless Freelancer to the PS5 Gand Findsman as follows:

Pilot: 4-LOM (PS6) with Stay on Target, Advanced Sensor, Title, Ketsu Onyo, Black Market Slicer Tool

Pilot: Gand Findsman (PS5) with Tactician, FCS and BMST. EPT to be Adaptability or Trick Shot. Leaning towards Trick Shot as I am learning that the Misthunter's speed 1 maneuvers are very useful for fighting in the middle of the asteroids.

Pilot: Trandoshan Slaver (PS2) on YV-666 with Flechette Cannon, Tactician, Cilkatro and BMST/Cargo Chute.

If you think a ship is cool and fun to fly add it to your list. An advantage of using disregarded ships is that opponents are not familiar with them and can underestimate them.

Just get it..

You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I had a list with a couple of the Gand Huntsman with tactician, mind link and slicer tools. I wsa going to make these ships good. But their dials are hard. And then I realized that I could just swap out my Gand Huntsman for Contracted scouts, I got way better ships for fewer points. Sure they only had 2 attack dice, but they also had 360 arc, more agility, and more health. Not to mention an amazing dial AND a white S-loop.

The problem with the Myst hunter is that the Jumpmaster is just so much better at almost everything in every way.

Winner of Austin regional 's last year ran 3 Mist Hunters with FCS and a Z. It can't be that bad!

Fooled around a lot with VI MISTHUNTER Dengar

Still expensive and squish but can generally fire before it dies. TB is defensive (ground enemy on rock before they shoot)

Cheap as possible so you dont lose too much when he gets squashed

This.

It's fun an playable, but has so many options that you can sink a lot of points into it. Don't make it too attractive of a target. 30 points is definitely too many in my opinion.

And it comes with 2 Adaptability cards. It is the only ship that comes with adaptability.

PS There is nothing wrong with flying the ship you like!

I have a 5 ship list I like to fly with both unique g1-a pilots; and it has some real legs if you can spread damage across your ships well enough.

4-lom: Snapshot, Bossk, ehanced scopes: 32 points

zuckuss: trick shot, k4, collision detector mist hunter, tractor beam: 32 points

sunny bounder-light scyk: 12 points

2x Binyare pirate: 12 x 2: 24 points

5 dice tractor beams at range 3 fully modded with zucky baby really make the rest of the ships hit a lot harder.

bossk snapshot is so good on 4-Lom too

There's a great video of the Austin Regional with G-1As that's interesting (link below). Build is no longer viable, or at least severely limited by the changes to Attanni Mindlink; however, it does show the ship has potential in the right hands and the right combination of cards. Gand Findsman is 25 points, has EPT, Illicit, System and Crew slots making it very flexible.
