Cikatro Vizago + Discard Cloak Illicit = New 2pt or fewer Illicit

By DarrylM, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I'm wondering about the new crew CIKATRO VIZAGO and his ability in correlation to CLOAKING DEVICE.

Cikatro Vizago states: "At the start of the End phase, you may discard this card to replace a faceup (ILLICIT) or (ENERGY) Upgrade card you have equipped with another Upgrade card of the same type of equal or fewer squad points."

Cloaking Device states: "At the end of each round, if you are cloaked, roll 1 attack die. On a (FOCUS) result, discard this card, then decloak or discard your cloak token."

My question, as many players have pondered and have been assuming, is that since Cikatro Vizago triggers "at the start of the End phase" and thus, the cloak card would already be replaced, the Cloaking Device requirement to roll for a focus should never come into play.

I would really like to clarify this from FFG/Asmodee staff especially, since I'm attending Gencon North American Championships in less than 2-weeks and want clarity on this question. Knowing any potential changes to this before we attend is very important. Any feedback from the X-Wing community on this card mechanic is welcomed as well.

FFG never replies to any questions here. At best, they skim it for oft-asked or debated questions to put into the next FAQ/Errata

And yes, the general consensus is that if you use Vizago to discard the Cloaking Device card while cloaked, you'll remain cloaked (along with the +2 Agility and being unable to attack) and not need to roll for it any longer. Once you decloak, it's handled like normal.

Thanks. And yes, I've emailed the developers on this -- just hoping no surprise changes at 11th hour before Gencon. I'd hate to make a last minute list change if this gets nerfed.
