Double Edge question

By Browncoat50, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So random thought here. If I am using Double Edge (for the sake of conversation equipped with TLT and Unguided rockets) and my rockets miss, the ability triggers. Do I have to attack the same target or can I instead decide to fire my TLT at a different enemy in the same logic as the Baze Malbus crew?

Start an attack from scratch, going through all the steps – which includes choosing a target.

Obligatory "Do what the card days to do; do not do what the card does not say to do."

Baze Malbus specifically requires you to choose a different ship. Double Edge does not. With Double Edge, you're free to shoot at the same target again or a new target.

For completeness: I will now say some stuff that isn't true. Gunner (and Luke crew) specifically require you to attack the same ship with your extra attack. Double Edge does not.

Actually the card says:

"After you perform an attack that does not hit, you may immediately perform a primary weapon attack. You may not perform another attack this round."

It does not say anything about the same target. So unless there was an FAQ I missed, you should be able to choose any target that your primary weapon can target.

They specifically do nothing of the sort.

THat's why baze is so much worse - because he ONLY allows you to attack another target - Luke and Gunner and IGGy B all do that AND allow you to attack the same guy as well.

Yep. I have scheduled a CT scan for the morning to determine if there's any lasting damage from my stroke.
