Summer Time... more social relationships and less hardcore wargaming. When a person outside gaming circles comes to my house quite often is interested in visiting my war room. I do not talk about this. Only if asked about my hobby. I am a dedicated warhammer since I was a child. So my relatives, co workers etc know about this. Not a "cammo pants and Patton T shirt" wargamer. But a dedicated one.
And while watching the shelves loaded with X Wing ships (391) the words... "This should be a difficult game to play...".
And it is not you need more time to teach somebody to play Catan than to start flying 2 X Wings vs 4 Ties. If we want to try more complex games we mess with objectives, resource management, hidden info...
A beautiful mechanic of red vs green dices. A fast and intuitive rulebook that works fine. Twice this long hot summer a person with no prior experience as a minis player came to our weekly Double Epic game. And no problem flying a bunch of unnamed Ties trying to catch Han.
Love simple and streamlined X Wing
