How to get the most out of the expansions

By IceBlaze, in Battlelore

I'm starting to build up on the expansions I'm recieving but have one concern.

The scenarios that come with the expansion susually consist of one side goblin vs another side of humans, or one side dwarves vs another side humans. That gives one side the more boring team even if you decide to switch it up. The other option is to use Call to Arms, but even there you will only be able to replace a few of your troops leaving the rest of the expansion pretty worthless.

I'm sure many of you seasoned players have come up with creative ways to use most of your pieces from the expansions. Is there a good way to do balanced matches consisting of mostly expansion units? Also, what have you found to be the best way to get the most out of your expansions, since I'm assuming many of you have come across the same concern and question.

I always said that they should sell Battlelore miniatures in packs ( of 8 or 12 miniatures) with all the wide selection of units available... so you could truly cuztomize and create your own adventures. You would simply buy the packs of the miniatures you desire and mix and match... you could even trade miniatures with other BL players you know...

Another way to get the most out of your expansions is designing your own custom scenaros. Of course, it might be a while before FFG has its own scenario editor.

As mentioned, creating ones own adventures and Call to Arms (by utilizing the specialist cards) are good ways to get the expansions' units onto the board. I expect that as more races are released, Call to Arms type deployment decks will be made available which use a wider variety of units for each race/nation's deployment decks.

A quick way to get the expansions' units involved is to use the specialist cards provided in each expansion on any of the set scenarios - just substitute or add as the specialist cards suggest.

There are also some web-only "official" scenarios that do use a wider variety of units. #51 Attempted Breakthrough is one of my favorites.

While I am looking forward to BattleLore opening up, still plenty to keep me busy as is.
