J-type 399 Nubian Combat Cruiser "Amidala"

By Refugeanoth, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

The J-type 399 Nubian Combat Cruiser was built in extremely limited numbers at the height of the galactic civil war, and used the existing J-type chassis as the basis for this extremely durable, powerful warship. Armed with several weapon systems hidden within concealed moorings across the vessels chromium cladding, and featuring an upgraded engine array with more efficient s-foils for dissipating heat, the Combat Cruiser was a well-rounded and versatile craft. The most well-known example of the cruiser was a 399 that used the decommissioned skeleton of Queen Amidalas personal J-type she used during the invasion of naboo. This vessel was the flagship of the naboo resistance and was named "Amidala" in their former beloved Queens honor.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

Beautiful model, great job! My only problem is the dial seems a little too good. Put R2 Astromech and Nien Nunb, and you have a dial with 11 greens to 1 red and 2 whites.

Great point! I'm actually debating adding 10 points to the overall cost to make it a little more appropriate.

Where is the model from (and don't say Naboo!)?

Well done; really cool pilot ability!

is the STL available ?

Not a 3d print. Was an estes model rocket kit that came out with TPM that I heavily modified.

Amidala version 2.0!

Some thoughts - Perhaps switch Ric Olie's ability and the title. As Ric Olie's ability is currently written, you can chain coordinate actions. But if you make Ric Olie's ability the same as the Amidala, then he actually has a choice - spend 5 points to gain coordinate, or reinforce for my ability. Choices are good. Also, I would then write the title to be "You may perform the coordinate action. If you do, the friendly ship may choose any action from your upgrade bar as their free action." This way, he can provide a coordinate, and they can take an action from his bar between focus, TL, and Reinforce... Which basically means Olie can pass out reinforce. 4 crew seems like a lot. I would suggest dropping it down to 3, which then makes my next suggestion make even more sense... Change the astro repair crew to be a double crew slot for 0 points, and make it a crit for discard (or get rid of it completely). You also might consider getting rid of the K turn completely.

With those changes, the Amidala can equip EU giving another action for The Amidala to pass out, you can choose between 3 crew (which is not currently available for the Rebels) or 1 crew and 1 Astro (which is only available on the Arc), and by moving coordinate to the title, you provide choices in both squad building and on the table.

Perhaps if I just changed Ric's ability to a once per turn? I was under the impression that you couldn't use an action again, even if it were a free action. The way I envisioned the ability working was that he could coordinate actions from his upgrades (crew or mechs with the ACTION header) and pass those out to allies. When you say chain coordinates, do you mean between two ships with coordinate?

I dig the idea of the mechs taking up a 2 crew slots. Mostly did it this way so you could hypothetically equip 4 astromechs and have wildly variable ship loadouts to maximize choices.

Any reason for dropping the k-turn? I know she's a bit of a lumbering beast, but I figured given the nubians penchant for designing fast and agile ships it wouldn't be unheard of for something like this that was further enhanced beyond the original spec to be able to flip itself around, especially since the ghost can do the same.

Ohh, you think the 2 crew astromech upgrade should only provide a single astromech? I actually like the idea of coordinate on the title in some way.

2 more pilots for the Combat Cruiser!

Prophet's ability is 100% OP. Sure - you *could* give them a free focus or evade... but you're never going to do that. Instead, let's focus on things you might do. You could have them take a TL on a ship they don't want to shoot at preventing them from TLing the ship they do want to shoot at. You can BR them onto a rock or even just out of position messing with their dial - this is the same as the quadjumper's tractor beam action though so it might not be too bad... but you can also boost them - and angle boost at that, which could seriously screw with them. Furthermore, unlike the TB, you're performing the actual action, so they cannot use it when they activate which could make it even worse. You could cloak a phantom keeping it from ever shooting. You could burn Jyn Erso when no one is in arc. You could have them reinforce the side that you're not shooting at. You could ISYTDS a pathetic crit to prevent them from putting a blinded crit there... Speaking of tractor beams... You can TB action them yourself :). And I'm sure there's some more stuff you could do that'd be nasty. The point is - it's a super powerful ability, and if you're going to have it, i'd make it more expensive and drop the EPT. Or make it on a crit only so it's super powerful but unreliable.

On a crit doesn't sound too terrible since you basically just toss the dice every time you use coordinate. If it lands, then awesome, you barrel roll or boost an enemy out of position, if not, you still use the coordinate on a friendly ship. Consider it changed to on a crit only.
