Coming up for a list for Nationals

By Captain Pellaeon, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys!

Hungarian National X-Wing Championship is coming in early October, and I'm considering to take part for the first time in any sort of tournament. I'm contemplating about bringing T-70s, because I love flying them. I'm aware that they aren't exactly meta right now. Please critique my list idea, I'm open to any advice. The only fix things are that I'd like to bring a Rebel list, and I don't want Biggs and/or Lowhrikk. I don't wanna let the Wookiee win.

- PS8 Poe (31) + BB-8 (2) + Intensity (2) + Primed Thrusters (1) + Black 1 (1) + IA (0) = 37

- Snap Wexley (28) + Intensity (2) + R2 Astromech (1) + Pattern Analyser (2) + IA (0) = 33

- Jess Pava (25) + M9-G8 (3) + IA = 28

That's 98 points in total. I'm not sure about IA on Poe, since I kinda need BB-8 on him all the time to make Intensity work properly. I'm considering downgrading Jess to Blue Squadron Novice to give Poe Autothrusters, then it would be 99 points in total. Or should I try something completely different? Thoughts?

It's a good list; Poe loves Intensity and BB8. The problem with Jess is she tethers the squad together, both Poe and Snap are "Free-Birds" and are very reactive.

Jess works better in formation squad. IMHO at least.

Jess....is good, but in this squad, may not be so great. Because you've got two "manoeuvrable" T-70s, she's going to have her hands full staying in formation with them, and they're probably not staying in formation with each other (as one is boosting and the other barrel rolling), so her ability isn't going to trigger that often.

Hence, A Blue Novice isn't a bad source of 'spare' points.

One trick you might try is upping Snap's Pattern Analyser to a Comms Relay. Turn 1, boost, evade, bank the evade, turn 2, focus and restock intensity. Pattern Analyser is cool but you might be able to live without it as it only triggers on a talon roll, it's still only getting you one action, and you'll have little problem shaking off the stress with an R2

Alternatively, Pattern Analyser/R2 works really well with Push The Limit or Daredevil.

I like the idea of having a comm relay, but then I have 0 initiative bid... unless I drop Black 1 from Poe. Which I thought be pretty useful since he'll be barrel rolling all the time.

- PS8 Poe (31) + BB-8 (2) + Intensity (2) + Primed Thrusters (1) + Black 1 (1) + Autothrusters (2) = 39

- Snap Wexley (28) + Intensity (2) + R2 Astromech (1) + Comm Relay (3) + IA (0) = 34

- Blue sq Novice (24) + M9-G8 (3) + IA = 27

How do you like the stresshog?

if you have the card and like it, then you could bring one for 26pt and add autothrusters.

Also I don't quite see why you have R2 instead of a better droid - or PTL

so what about this: Poe to PS9 or add AT, 39 total

Stresshog for 26pt

Snap with PTL, R2, pattern analyzer, Integrated for 34pt

total 99pt

I will say at PS8, the bid won't matter as much. the reason there is a lot of PS9 kicking about at the moment; this makes PS9 and a bid matter more.

Fenn, Dengar, Quickdraw, RAC, vader, Nym (with VI and adaptability) are very popular in my local area.

I can see a rise of the PS arms race again another PS-Cold War

Poe Dameron (31) w/ Intensity (2), R2-D2 (4), Primed Thrusters (1), Autothrusters (2), Black One (1)

Jess Pava (25) w/ R2-D6 (1), Selflessness (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

Wes Janson (29) w/ Veteran Instincts (1), R3-A2 (2), Integrated Astromech (0)

Total: 100

PS10 Stress Wes can save you from alphas and Expertise garbage. Jess with selflessness saves Wes from dying instantly. Poe has R2D2 instead of BB8 cause regen is tourney approved (its all about saving MOV and 1 dead Poe is 41pts of waving bye-bye to the top cut).

If you dont discriminate against Wookies and want a little more PUNCH

Poe Dameron (31) w/ Intensity (2), R2-D2 (4), Primed Thrusters (1), Autothrusters (2), Black One (1)

Jess Pava (25) w/ M9-G8 (3), Integrated Astromech (0)

Wullffwarro (30) w/ Trick Shot (0), Wookiee Commandos (1)

Total: 100

Wulf with wookie commandos and m9g8 reroll is getting his offensive mods and still able to reinforce. Trickshot gives him another attack dice, meaning when his ability kicks in, he can be chucking 5 dice from range 2-3.

I did some training games against TIE Defenders, lost one, won the other. In conclusion, I do quite like Intensity Poe and Snap, they are much more survivable with the extra tokens. They are also quite maneouverable, so positioning is key, especially agains something that's nasty to fly face to face, like a Defender. I'm just not sure on the third wingman. The list so far is the following:

PS8 Poe + Intensity + BB-8 + Autothrusters + B1 + Primed Thrusters = 39

Snap + Intensity + R2 Astro + IA + Comm Relay = 34

Now, I just need something from 27 points. I'm thinking about the standard Stresshog for 26 pts. Or maybe a blocker A-Wing?

Kwing with bomblet generator and bombadier. Dropping bombs every round can be area denial. And with slam can work as a blocker.
