Anybody else using Comm Disruption in a non-spy list?

By Tvboy, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Because of the way the card is worded, even if you don't have any spies on the table, it's basically copy #2 of Negation which is a staple right now to fight Take Initiative.

I recently cut my 2nd Rebel Sab for elite Echo Base Troopers, and cut all my spy and heavy cards, but decided to keep Comm Disruption to double my chances of having Negation in my opening hand. Anyone else do this?

2 points is pretty hefty. Wouldn't be bad but it depends on what you lose for it.

Have done it before (Sorin list due to not many good droid cards previously) but with so many good options for your points now I don't really think it's ever worthwhile.

There are so many good 1 and 3 pt cards that I don't see what it's worth dropping for it.

As ever though, show us the list and it'll give us more info to inform a decision

I agree with @TheUnsullied & @RoyalRich, 2 pts is taking up a lot of space in your hand. I only run it in spy lists.

I have run it in a list with no spies before. And it isn't really bad, per se. It improves your chance to counter Take Initiative, and if you draw both it and Negation, you can use it to cancel a Celebration, Element of Surprise, and several other annoying 0-cost cards. (If you do this, it's always better to play Negation first, because your opponent might not then see the Comm Disruption coming.)

With that said, it gets a lot better with even one spy.

I wanted this to be more an open-ended discussion and not a list clinic, but since you guys asked and I've love some feedback, here's the list I'm currently working with.

eRanger
eSab
-TCom
eEBT
Hera
Gideon
-Dip M.
C-3PO
-Trusted Companion
Rebel High Command

Grenadier
Call of the Vanguard
Heart of Freedom
Tools for the Job
Comm Disruption
Negation
Hit and Run
Blitz
Rank and File
Take Inititiave
Element of Surprise
Fleet Footed
Deadeye
/Posititioning Advantage
/Planning
/Advance Warning
/Urgency
*/denotes slots I'm unsure about

I actually started with 2 eSabs but cut 1 for EBT, and I'm actually considering dropping the remaining Sab for a 2nd EBT, so Comm Disruption with 0 spies would be very relevant to me if I did that. I would probably need more testing first, my damage output/input would probably improve but I'd lose out on the utility of having Blast and Stun in the list. With this list I couldn't really find a 2 command card to include that was better than Negation. Tangentially, I'm not sure what to do with my final 2 0 pt slots, the cards with / in front of them are the 4 cards I'm considering.

You don't have Assassinate or Heightened Reflexes for Rangers? I'd also get rid of Rank and File.

I'm getting back into the game after a long break, and I traditionally don't like including class-locked command cards for a class I only have 1 deployment for (hence why I find Comm Disruption interesting). I don't have a way to use dead class cards if I draw them late after the only group that can use them has been defeated. Com Disruption is usable even if I draw it after my elite Sabs die. Tools for the Job is usable by Hera as well as the rangers. Rank and File is in there to give the EBTs a little more mobility as a pseudo Fleet Footed so they can use that Frontline ability slightly more often.

Should I cut Comm Disruption and Rank and File for Assassinate and a 0 pt card with only 1 group of Hunters in my list? I very much dislike drawing dead command cards.

If all your backline units(Rangers) are dead you've probably lost the match anyways at that point. I'd defintely take Heightened Reflexes for sure and then if you can fit Assassinate I'd do that as well.
