PS 11 Alpha imp strike

By IgotTargetlocked, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey

been wanting to try out this, what do you think?

Vader

Vi, CM, AdvTc, Titel, chips

Quickdraw

Vi, Fcs , Cm, Titel, Lwf, Targeting syncronizer

And

Omega Leader

Juke , Comm relay

The idea is vader can use Quickdraws targetlock after the salvo of CM, and then be abel to mod his shot witout giving away his free crit

Adv. Targeting Computer adds a crit to primary weapon attacks only (so you cannot add a crit result to Cruise Missiles/Cluster Missiles/Concussion Missiles). As Vader has two actions a round and Quickdraw has FCS, I don't see the point in Targeting Synchronizer. You'd be far better off with Pattern Analyzer on Quickdraw. Six red moves on the dial = absolutely worth it to have Pattern Analyzer.

Though Vader could use Targeting Synchronizer to reroll his primary attack and add a crit due to his own Target Lock he only has 2 attack dice he can reroll, with Special Ops Training Quickdraw has 3 attack dice - not worth neutering him the next round (he wont have a Target Lock when he attacks but will gain one afterward for FCS which Vader will spend). It's probably best to let Quickdraw do Quickdraw and let Vader do Vader.

You are right. Pattern Analyzer it is then.

Other than that, what did you think of the list?

Oh, I thought the idea was to have Vader Target Lock early but not spend it via Targeting Synch when trying to fire missiles?

But anyway, Pattern Analyzer is certainly less situational. Since that moves the focus of the list away from Vader's missiles, may I suggest swapping out CM+Chips for Engine Upgrade?

Overall I like the list, I have a very similar list but use a TIE Shuttle to carry around Kylo Ren rather than Omega Leader. I don't ever have much faith in Omega Leader, but then again he'll be more offensive than a bomber.

My List runs:

Darth Vader VI, Cruise Missiles, TIE/X1 Title, Adv. Targeting Computer, and Guidance Chips [34]

Quickdraw VI, Cruise Missiles, FCS, Spec Ops Training, Lightweight Frame, Pattern Analyzer, and Guidance Chips [39]

Gamma Squadron Veteran Adaptability (+1), TIE Shuttle, Lightweight Frame, Kylo Ren, Fleet Officer [27]

Vader and Quickdraw drop Cruise Missiles with full modifiers combat round 1, with full modifiers. In that round the Gamma Squadron Veteran should only have been near enough to have Fleet Officered Vader and Quickdraw prior to their maneuver and thus should be out of combat range but poised to fly in and Kylo some unlucky fool (that Vader will then TL). After the 2 cruise missiles it's just staying on the enemy squadron and applying "I'll Show You the Darkside" and Adv. Targeting Computer as needed.

Nice list, but you cant have LWF and chips in quick, they are both mods

I like having kylo in a shuttel, but its harder to get the crit of , I prefer the spade of doom ( Decimator , Rac, vi , Kylo, Rebel captive, gunner, engin)

Whoops - my typing error, squad builder has LWF not Guidance Chips. :P

I came in 11th of 31 at a store championship event two weeks ago at Battleground games in Mass:

Quickdraw: Swarm Tactics, Fire Control System, Lightweight Frame, Cruise Missiles, Pattern Analyzer, and Special Ops Training.

Backdraft: Veteran Instincts, Fire Control System, Lightweight Frame, Pattern Analyzer, and Special Ops Traning.

Omicron Group Pilot: Collision Detector, Kylo Ren, and Tractor Beam Cannon.

I've been flying variants of that list at multiple events and for nearly 2 months now - never really had an issue relying on only Backdraft's rear arc for crits. My point and hope is, if I can successfully use Backdraft's aux arc to ensure crits to trigger the condition card then surely Adv. Targeting Computer will be as easy or easier to use. :)

As a matter of fact when I first ran the list (store championships at Crossroad Games in Maine) my OGP had Operation Specialist and Engine upgrade instead of Kylo Ren (no Cruise Missiles on Quickdraw, they weren't out yet) and I melted a spade of doom. Backdraft, praise be unto him, evaded an attack from RAC with glorious flare: RAC rolled blank, blank, focus, crit. Rerolled the two blanks to blank & crit. Used his ability to convert the focus to a crit. Backdraft evaded a 3 crit attack from RAC at Range 1 and thus was spared blinded pilot (and then helped to kill the Decimator that round, I needed him to fire to get it off the table and he needed me blinded to keep it on the table).

I think I took a hodge-podge of all the lists and distilled it into one list:

Darth Vader (29)
Swarm Tactics (2)
Cruise Missiles (3)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
TIE/x1 (0)

Omicron Group Pilot (21)
Collision Detector (0)
Tractor Beam (1)
Kylo Ren (3)

"Backdraft" (27)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Cruise Missiles (3)
Targeting Synchronizer (3)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)

Total: 99

I think Target Synch works well here to help the tractor go off and/or to launch the Vader cruise missiles (though honestly he's going to have his own TL, but just in case he doesn't). I like Swarm tactics for the timing of the TB, making landing the Kylo crit even more likely.
