This is going to be great :)

Jan Ors is so cool! I really like the character, but her ship is a little weak. So I think she is going to get 3 attack dice with Expose and Finn. She doesn't even loose a green die when using Expose because of Stealth device.

And Ten Numb is going to support her well! Both are PS 8, so they shoot early and fly late. Ten has got some EVIL guns and torpedoes to cause heavy damage.

What do you think?

why not extra munitions instead of 2nd APT on TEN Numb? you would save 4 pts...for the same amount of torps

In any case Jan ors is a support ship. Her ability is for ships that shoot beore her. not for herself

Expose is an action, so if you use it, you won't have a target lock to reroll Finn's blank, he would be worthless.

Stealth Device will be discarded after you take a hit, so it will probably not last a round of combat (unless your opponent really whiffs)

Two APTs is not a good plan unless you can push the limit to get a focus and target lock in the same turn. If you get a target lock on approach and then take a focus and fire at range 1, you would need 2 turns of action to be able to fire again.

I would strip Jan down to just a turret and let her support others; then pull everything off of Ten except the HLC. That gives you 35 points (minus turret cost) to add a third ship; you could outfit a T-70 decently for that.

Expose also only works on the primary weapon, so it won't work on the HCL and the torps. I think you would be better off with Keyan instead of Ten. Rage and inspiring recruit. Take off the torps, keep the HCL. You have re-rolls and a focus every turn, plus Keyan's destress ability.

With all the points freed, you could add a turret to Jan. You could use the new synced turret, and keep Finn, that way, if your in arc, you still get re-rolls. You'd still need to get rid of expose on her too, but there are plenty of other options for EPT

That you've got a really, really big gun that's short ranged, on a fragile ship, with a second fragile ship making the gun even bigger.

Imagine a jawa on crutches with a sawn-off howitzer.

You're going to need to fly smartly to get a shot off - if you do, it's going to leave a dent, admittedly - but there's a real risk you'll lose ten with both torpedoes still in the tubes.

Jan is an awesome character in the games, and an effective piece on the table. A no-particular-prerequisite extra attack die for a wingman of your choice hurts like buggery.

Moldy Crow is a good choice for a HWK, because free focus tokens (in this case 'stored up' focus tokens) make a ship very effective, and it's nice and cheap.

Stealth Device is good, but as @HaranHaste says, it only lasts until you get hit. Hence it's most useful on agility 3 ships, or ships with other defences. The HWK has a nearly-unique-to-it shield regeneration tool called Pulsed Ray Shields , but I'd avoid that for Jan Ors - since she's going to be using her ability most turns (and hence being stressed most turns), ionising herself gives you the nasty ionized + stressed combination which really messes you up.

Expose .....yeah. Expose is widely reviled as one of the worst elite upgrades. It has its uses, but as noted, it's an action. Which means whilst you may have a leftover focus token from Moldy Crow, you don't have the reroll you need to achieve anything with Finn. Plus, both Expose and Finn only work on the HWK's pea-shooter of a primary weapon, and Jan can't boost her own guns, meaning you're stuck at (effectively) 2 dice, the same firepower as a 12-point TIE fighter .

If you want to take Jan, I would make the following recommendations:

  • Give her a turret. Actually, any turret will do; unlike most ships, Moldy Crow means you can support the focus token cost of a Blaster Turret fairly well, and a Blaster Turret and Recon Specialist is effectively a 3-dice attack for significantly less than the price of Expose and Finn, without reducing your agility, plus you can shoot outside your arc of fire. But Synched Turret , Twin Laser Turret and Ion Cannon Turret all do fine too. Autoblaster turret and Dorsal turret are probably a bit short-ranged for a ship as unmanouvrable as the HWK.
  • Ion Cannon Turret is actually probably a nice idea - being able to drop an ion token on a target makes it predictable, which is nice when looking to get to range 1 and drop an Advanced Proton Torpedo on someone's face.
  • If you're going to be using Jan's ability to boost attack dice, she's likely to be stressed a lot. Abilities and crew which make use of this, like Ezra Bridger , Wired or Cool Hand , are cheap and very good for giving you a slight edge.
  • Alternatively (and very characterfully) Kyle Katarn works well as crew for Jan, giving you a free focus whenever you recover from stress, which Moldy Crow lets you hold onto until you have a use for it.

Expose - see above. Firstly, as noted, it doesn't work on the secondary weapons, which (given how many you're carrying) you should always be using!

Carrying that many (expensive) weapon upgrades means you're going to always have options you're not using, which is generally bad.

Sensor Jammer is okay, but if the attacker has a focus token (or equivalent ability) it does nothing - it's best paired with some means of stopping people modifying dice (like a ship that can hand out stress, like R3-A2 ), so your opponent has no focus token to spend.

My thoughts:

  • Advanced Proton Torpedoes hit like a truck, but are fiddly to use due to (a) their limit of range 1 and (b) the need to have a focus token and target lock at the same time to get the best effect.
  • A Fire Control System gets around the need to generate target locks for a low cost.
  • Expertise is the same price as expose and is effectively permanent offensive focus.
  • A Mangler Cannon doesn't have the same punch as a Heavy Laser Cannon, but with Jan you can boost it to 4 dice as required. More importantly, whilst a Heavy Laser Cannon rarely causes criticals due to its rules, if you roll anything but blanks with Expertise and a Mangler cannon, you're guaranteed a critical that Ten Numb's ability can trigger off.
  • Hitting with an Advanced Proton Torpedo , by comparison, shouldn't need Guidance Chips. Even without them, with Jan and Expertise you're rolling 6 attack dice, and changing up to 3 blanks and all focus results to hits. If, at that point, you're relying on a single critical to land a hit, You're Doing It Wrong .
  • Carring two Advanced Proton Torpedoes, rather than one Advanced Proton Torpedo and Extra Munitions , is paying 4 points for no reason because the latter gives you exactly the same benefits (by a different method).
  • Not carrying Guidance Chips opens up the possibility of B-Wing/E2 , which costs a point and allows you to take your pick of the (generally very good) rebel crew upgrades.

My recommendations (boiled down)

Jan Ors - Moldy Crow, Cool Hand, Kyle Katarn, Blaster Turret, Stealth Device

Ten Numb - Expertise, Fire Control System, Mangler Cannon, Advanced Proton Torpedoes, Extra Munitions, B-wing/E2

That's still only 89 points - so Ten can carry any crew of your choice. Alternatively, drop Cool Hand to Trick Shot on Jan and you can afford a whole extra ship in the form of a Bandit Squadron Pilot

Oh dear gawd. Tell me this is not a real list.

I was joking actually. I tried to come up with a terrible list and wondered if somebody would notice :D
