Maybe somewhat of an unconventional use of H9 Turbolasers-- anti-squadron power, especially against Sloane Scatter Aces. I could see it being devastating on an ISD-I with Ordinance experts. You're guaranteed an accuracy and with that black reroll, you should be hitting quite often. Also ECMs are used less often, so locking down that brace is a nice extra.
Old Upgrades, new frontiers?
I've tried QLTs on a Vic a few times in an attempt to use it as an anti-squad platform but it's never gotten to shoot at squads. It's expensive but on paper it can guarantee damage on all generic squads in arc and has a good chance of activating key ace squadrons before they can do damage. Use it with Screed and it's even better but d*** it's a lot of points and too easy for enemy squads to avoid.

^^^ that still wouldn't stop me from plunking six Sloane commanded Defenders in front of it, stripping off its defenses, and then ISDing the crap out of it.

Of course not.
But its 104 points. What do you expect?

No but my Interceptor screen would.

Now that'd be a challenge!

Then with an ISD-I or a Quasar I you can actually put Quad Laser Turrets, Point Defense Reroute and Cluster Bombs (plus Tua of course) to make an overcosted 17 points ultra defense against squadrons. Take that Sloane!!
Nope.... Tua cant go on a medium or large that already has a defensive retro fit upgrade slot

But cluster bomb target only one ship

The ISD-I doesn't have a defensive retrofit, so you can put Tua there.
The only ship actually where Tua cannot go is the ISD-II

Don't worry, I should be working too

I know, I was just saying that if you really want to make a ship to counter squadrons no matter the cost, Cluster Bombs is an upgrade that doesn't encourage the opponent at least to attack you with it's TIE aces ("Mauler", Ciena, Fel, Howlrunner or Valen) as you can most probably destroy them right away after a single attack from them.

Disagree. They are bad, imo, because of opportunity cost in the slot. Please dont mistake anything I'm about to say as me arguing clusters are good. But if your opponent is bringing sloane?
Cluster bombs averages 3 damage per use. This damage cannot be mitigated. That means that Interceptors and TIE line fighters should reasonably expect to die upon firing on a ship with clusters. TIE's and aces of this variety often dominate the squadron makeup of a sloane list.
Cluster Bombs cost 5 points. A TIE generic is 8. So thats a good trade. Not a great one, but 8>5. But just having it untriggered means your slone opponent cant use their more expensive scatter aces agaisnt the ship that has this equipped, or they have to decide that losing one is acceptable.
But now, lets say you have multiple instances of cluster bombs in the list. I ran a corvette swarm agaisnt an opponent who was running 134 points of scatter aces and ties. I brought no fighters. I had like 4 or 5 bombs. He just didnt attack my ships. Negated one of his most potent weapons. Now, personally i think he should have just accepted he was gonna lose some squads, but the point I'm making is that cluster bombs arent the waste of points vs the average sloane list that they are vs pretty much anything else. There are still imo probably better ways to spend those points, but the squadron makeup sloane encourages finds them particularly dangerous.
