Agreed. Unfortunately none of this will probably matter when it comes to the designers actually doing something to TA/Gideon/3PO if something ever does happen.

My argument is still the same: TA promotes lazy deckbuilding, reduces variety, and limits design space. It's obvious that noone is changing their mind here, so this debate is getting quite pointless.

I agree on the exchange, and also on winning a SC without TA I was actually Mercs, but I did have a Jawa and 3PO.

The only thing I could think of that would be both thematic and possibly restricting would be to have TA go the other way (Have it be a Rebel card that can hire Merc). Rebels or Imperials can hire a max of 2 Mercs. Would that change much? Is that 3rd merc doing so much more for you than having another rebel or two?

OK. At least thematically it would make sense to hire some Hired Guns. Competitively I'd assume, that future Rebels lists would have a lot of EWeequays ...

I don't think you can use 'flavor' as an argument in a game that can legitimately have a Wampa, a Jawa, a Sand Person, Greedo and Maul fighting Echo Base Troopers, Old Ben Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano and Lando over storage crates in a dumpster on Coruscant.
