So last night someone who is preparing for Worlds asked if they could fight my Expertise Wookies and I gladly obliged. He was flying double Lancers, each with two Glitterstims. I have a very minimal battle report here, but suffice it to say I won, and by good luck did so without losing a single wookie. It's kinda funny that I was much less worried about stress (despite it shutting down expertise and making future maneuvers harder) and decided Ketsu must die first, but it makes sense that tractor beams would be a much greater threat among so many rocks.

The wookies performed solidly, and my opponent got some good practice. I think what hurt him most was not realizing I had Tactician; had he examined my fleet in greater detail he wouldn't have gone with the initial approach he did. Tactician makes Glitterstim a much more risky habit, even on a Lancer.

I ran 4 PS1 Auzitucks last night with wookie commandos and crushed it. Only lost 1 ship each round. I may take this list to my next tourney

Im a fan of the wookies and have been trying them and wanted to share with you my list.

In regards of what I have seen on previous posts Im flying 4 stress sources on this list and doing repositioning with Vectored Thrusters and the Shuttle coordinate. I do love the possibility that this ships can be arc dodgers, reposition to put the extra stress or get to R1. I need more games to test it. But i think it has a lot of tricks to exploit on this control meta.

In my area Campaign Against Cancer is supposed to be janky casual lists only. If I brought triple auzitucks I'd be hated forever, like breaking the exterior windows in Total Recall.

BTW that's amazing that it's in the top 4. Must be a player with a lot of practice in the meta... harpoons and other nova lists have been giving tucks a hard time lately.

Not many harpoons in the top tables In Birmingham. I think Poe/Dash is keeping them down over here. Or more accurately BB-8 is keeping them down.

For CAC this year I'm bringing Nera, Jan, and Lowhhrick. Thanks to price and delicacy, named B-Wings and HWKs are doomed in the meta without Biggs, have been for some time, but CAC is the perfect time to dust off Nera and Jan. I flew this with Biggs last year and had fun; he keeps Nera and Jan from simply melting in one or two rounds, and Jan enables some hilarious (if short-lived) nukes. This is a chance to relive some of the janky-Jan fun of yesteryear.

Despite the explicit mandate to fly jank, some people will deliberately bring top- or near-top-meta. Or maybe because of all the jank -- it's like enabling cheat codes in a video game, rolling over everything without much resistance and feeling superior. The good news is few people do this, and after a round or two of swiss they have to fight each other from then on (leaving the rest of us alone to enjoy the charity event). The better new is some of us know our derpy fleets well enough to give the meta at least a run for its money. It's really funny to watch someone flying Rey-Finn + Miranda stare in shock as an objectively inferior fleet demolishes them. >:D

Flew it tonight against a mean Jess/Fenn/Low/Rex list and barely pulled out the win. I got Fenn and Rex. Lost a wookiee, and Jess had a final shot range 2 through a rock on a 1 hull reinforce wookiee. She rolled 2 hits, I needed 1 evade to live and got it.

I started out just spreading my wookiees all along my edge. I knew his squad had to stay together, so I surrounded his from all directions. I let him attack one wookiee, then the rest just focus the next round while my opponent tries to kill a reinforced one. Ezra is there to coordinate any wookiees that have to bump, or this case, they can focus, then with rex and jess moving before ezra, he can coordinate a reinforce after they move.

Worked good for the most part. I need better approach. Didnt help that his Fenn had inspiring recruit, negating my multi stress, but it was enough to keep his lowhhrick sticking to banks instead of turns which helped. Will be giving this quite a few runs the next couple weeks as I prep for System Open. Still debating what I will bring. Ezra coordinate was cool though as I didnt care for bumps so much.

Yeah the prices people want for the expertise; you may as well just get a second U-Wing.............soon to be third I guess.

With any luck, the Post-Fix U-Wing will become effective and desirable enough that 3 won't be bad. Who knows, maybe 3 and 4 U-Wing fleets will be a thing.

I'm not optimistic though, especially for the beloved T-65's fix. Leaks seem to indicate it's not a very strong fix, and I doubt we'll wee an across-the-board nerf to help make them meta-viable (it's too tangled a problem, and FFG would make a lot of enemies nerfing all the ships/strategies favored by top players). Vaksai was the most aggressive fix we've ever seen, and yet you still rarely see k-fighters. I think the X-Wing faces the same problem because it has a somewhat similar role to the k-fighter.

Super-durable ships and the harpoons meant to kill them fast are all the rage right now, and have been for a bit too long; ships that don't play or counter-play that role directly don't belong. Admittedly auzitucks are part of the problem... I wonder what might be the solution in the end. I know the people in my local groups are really unhappy that health and damage have grown so much. Feels like Triple Tucks kinda marked the beginning of the end for one of the larger x-wing communities in my area -- they all gave up and went back to Warhammer or other games. :/ As fun and cool as the triple tucks are to fly, everyone local kinda hated them. Ghost Fenn, anything Miranda, and other rebel regen etc are a problem too.

Much like the Biggs nerf (painful but welcome, despite being a Biggs player at the time), I'd welcome any nerf that brings balance to the force. We'll see. I don't think the meta is that easy to fix, though, or even fixable in the sense that most ships become able to participate meaningfully... tame any dominant mobster and 2 rise to take his place. But if we're playing favorites, I'd choose the ship the game is named after.

What I'm saying is, I'd be willing to throw the Auzituck and friends under the bus in front of their families if it meant happy X-Wings, but it'd probably backfire.

This is the complete opposite of our club; when 40K relaunched saw people go back, as they where only playing X-Wing till storm blew over.

Our club has seen a resurgence, with new people coming in. We have also moved more into the releams of "meta" lists.

Though people do hate the list you mention; there is a mentality of "Am gonna find what breaks that" so many variations of strong list to beat the "boogie-men" of this meta.

there is and always will be boogie-men to slay in any game; this waves are G-A-F and Tactical Wookies (or my fave "Rumble in the Jungle")

Our local store folk love the wookiees list when I fly it. I usually have a queue wanting to get time in against it so that they can beat it at tournaments.

It has all led to me getting a bit disheartened by it in general ... a few games against lists built to tech against the list (or natural predators for it) and it can seem like it has a load of unwinnable matchups. Then I see tactical wookiees make 2 appearances in top 16, and one at top 4, with a third player flying the magic carpet ride to top 16 all at Birmingham system open ... and I realise it is a really strong meta call right now ...

I'm partially tempted to fly them exclusively until I git gud with them ... and part tempted to put them away and join the Lowhhrick/Ezra&friend revolution... I can't see a future for rebels that doesn't include that particular wookiee right now.

I've been flying double/triple Wookies for about 5 months. I think the biggest list building mistake is only putting expertise/tactician on them. Don't get me wrong, tactical wookies is really strong. But with six crew slots and three EPT's you have enormous flexibility to tailor the list to any meta. I felt particularly at a disadvantage when facing double/triple harpoon lists and after switching things up a bit (selflessness/maul/ezra on one wookie) I have yet to lose to a harpoon list. Around here it seemed Poe was in 3/4 of all lists at one point so swap in HSCP and these all turned into near auto-wins. Surprise those guys that are teching against you. The wookies can stand up to it!

So i really like flying wookies. Got a tournament coming up.

In theory, the OpSpec can make up for a lack of Expertise/Predator to an extent (Ezra's attack won't hit often). But as I said, not tried it out yet.

You just know the new Magva Yarrow / Saw crew has opened this debate back up again. How about this ... no stress, but holy moly those dice mods.
