That fits the pattern of releasing on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Exciting!

The Elves are coming, the Elves are coming!
ordered Elven paints...
Just finished painting the Golem and Carrion expansion packs so all done and waiting, but still not 4 (FOUR?!) core sets plus expansions...crikey!
after all my complaining about painting, I'm actually starting to enjoy it...
yes, I know...the Power of the Dark side...
Latari on the way, does this also mean Heavy Crossbow and Death Knights drop then, too? Or is that gonna be another boat... ?

Those are still at the printer. Definitely a different boat.
Unfortunately the elves will only have "core" units so they won't be competitive for at least another month.

That's the thing - order 2 of the elves expansion and 2 of each of the expansions when they come out or 1 army and 3 expansions?
which has the better cards?
I bought 2 a-wings and 2 b-wings and two rebel aces...always thought I should have bought 1 each of the individual expansions and 3 of the rebel aces..
The question is punk...do I buy 2 or 3? In all the excitement I've forgotten the lesson..

Well, in all honesty, I think I'm going to consider the next two army expansions as the Aliana of Summersong Deluxe Hero Expansion and the Ravos the Everhungry Deluxe Hero Expansion. I wouldn't buy two Hawthornes, so why buy two of these heroes?
Besides, I feel the itch to buy 8 Berserkers for all of those Bloodrage Conduits, so I won't be needing more than one Uthuk Y'llan Army Expansion. I think it will almost always be better to buy the expansions for cards and models than buying "cores" for just more models. But who knows at this point?

One elf army box. 3 expansions. Your gonna love Hunters guile in the derpwood archer box.

I need green spray, and lots of browns.
at least one battle cat will be black.
Should I paint one calico? Haha
You should definitely paint at least one calico.

I have a long history of painting autumnal elves. I'm.. likely to continue.

When I played my proxy elf army at 200 points, I was able to function pretty well with 10 trays of archers, 2 scions, and six trays of leonx riders, and I think the only upgrades I used are in the Army Expansion box. That's 3 Army Expansions if you absolutely can't wait (or want to hastily assemble for GenCon events). I ran the Leonx with Column Tactics in 1x3, Support Scions with Hunter's Guile in two 3x2 Deepwood Archer units, and Aliana with Packleader's Spear and Wildcall's Instinct. Try it out. 199 points, 4 overgrowth tokens (so basically every piece of terrain gets overgrown), and very agile.
I got two cores initially and traded half my Daqan, I think given the amount of reanimates I need it was a good idea. With the elves I feel like one core will be fine, as they seem to be more small unit friendly and high on upgrade power. So I'll be waiting for expansions after the first core.
I would prefer to do 1 core and a bunch of expansions. But financially I think all I can do is 2 core and like 1 expansion. So I'm glad I'll have time to decide which expansion it will be.

Oh I will definitely try it out, dont worry about that! My point is just that w/o the infantry command, the 2nd hero and the unit specific cards from the "core" expansions Daqan and Waiqar will have a leg up for a bit.

I think this is a great plan with Latari. They look to be an army that benefits from having the flexibility of small units rather the clunkiness of giant blocks/deathstars. I see them working well in screens of shooting and moving and then the next screen shoots and moves.

I'm thinking more the opposite end - I'd rather buy cores for cheap figures and then just print cards. The cores are basically half the price of buying the same units separately.

Maybe I'm just weird like that. I need to have the official copies of the cards and I'd rather spend money getting those than getting extra figures without the upgrades I want.
It also depends on whether you are going to compete or not. I would certainly like to, but I'm moving to a border town where "game store" means video games. I don't even think they have Friday Night Magic there.
I may need to buy a second archer for second hunters guile and 12 total trays... Yay. We'll see.
Anyone else who would like to see a Latari/Uthuk Y'llan equivalent of the core set? I don't like the Uthuk but I'd think of getting 2 of such alternative core sets if they'd exist.
ugh too many things to paint...
i just had to get back into 40k didnt i rofl.
^this
I think people are vastly over estimating the number of cards they need. This is not x -wing where each figure needs its own cards. And the only way you can use 50% of the upgrades is in larger units.
