Tycho, Corran, Jake

By cybercat07, in X-Wing Squad Lists

3 Rebels.... 2 A wings, 1 E wing. I feel like this list may not do the trick but it seems like it could be fun! Please let me know what you all think, especially if you've toyed around with something similar!

Tycho- 28

A wing test pilot

Push the Limit

Crackshot

Chardaan refit

Jake Farrel- 26

A wing test pilot

Push the Limit

Crackshot

Chardaan refit

Corran Horn- 45

Hull upgrade

Crack shot

Fire control system

R2D2

So my plan would be to run these guys in tight formation on the outside aimed at the opponent's big guns, with the As on the outside. Then when we get in closer, the two As zoom in close and Corran uses his cannon to decimate them. Whatcha think???

I think keeping the A-Wings in a tight formation will be problematic. I think they work best as flankers and support, if they're in formation your opponent will likely joust them, and they don't trade well in that scenario. Still though if you fly this as 3 aces trying to score a kill I think you have something there. I don't care for Crack Shot on Corran, but it's not bad for one point and will help you burn at least one tank. The lack of red dice is a bit concerning, but I'd need to test it to figure that out. I like it.

I'm looking at a-wings without autothrusters and only one chance of pushing damage through with crackshot. Fly it and prove me wrong!

Yeah I agree with @Estarriol . I think both of the A's need Autothrusters, and Jake needs VI, while Tycho needs Rage, instead of Crack shot on either of them. While Crackshot is nice, its not as consistent. Corran is, sadly, just overpriced. For a comparable ace at a better price, I'd consider Poe w/ Intensity, BB-8, Primed Thrusters, and Autothrusters.

This would be okay in casual. But Corran NEEDS Engine Upgrade, NEEDS it in order to be effective. I tried the hull-upgrade idea, but EU is just so much better.

This is how I would build the three of them together today. But I think this is way more fun and has been way more offensively viable:

Green Squadron Pilot (19)
Snap Shot (2)
Proton Rockets (3)
Juke (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

The way this one plays is: you dive in hard and fast, close R2/1, take evades with the A-s, Corran takes focus, snap/juke the enemy with the A's. Then fire once unmodified with Corran. Corran then double taps with Focus/TL and steals evades from A-Wings (if they still have them). Corran disengages and runs away to recharge his gun, meanwhile A-Wings setup for procket attack and launch another 10 dice total. Corran rejoins as A-Wings setup for a block with evades tokens that Corran can steal to launch 5-6 dice again.

The lists aren't that hot against all the current meta builds, but it's a ton of fun!

Corran then double taps

You just blew my mind - Corran is the perfect highPS carrier for Swarm Leader!

Usually you don't want to take the evades away, but Corran can double tap, hence attack last, hence nobody cares anymore.
And even better that you can use Juke twice that way, and the evades effectively three times! Now that's some crazy efficiency, and a beautiful build!

I flew an A-wing swarm on Sunday and I have just one thing to add: giving them cruise missiles forces the opponent to get into range 1 in my experience, so maybe swap the missiles.

im my limited experience cruise missiles are just too easy to range control, at least in my meta. That and they require the TL, where with an A-Wing I don't want to be tokenless too often.
