Do you give Nemeses stimpacks?

By DaverWattra, in Game Masters

Stimpacks are basically a way to significantly increase an NPC's effective Wound Threshold. Do you ever give your Nemesis- (or Rival-) level NPCs stimpacks? Does this seem like a good idea? It seems like it could be beneficial at high-XP play, where PCs can wipe out opposition pretty quickly with average rolls.

I haven't before, but I'm gonna start now! Man, I can't believe I never thought of that.

I have. It's a dastardly awesome thing to do. Of course the evil scientist also has a couple/few ranks of Stimpack Specialization as well....

I frequently give NPCs stimpacks. They use them too, but the ones they don't use are frequently used by the PCs to restock their ever-dwindling supply of the things.

Heck, I sometimes toss in a minion medic into the loop to run around and make medicine checks and stimpack his fellow minions. It doesn't usually last long, but it shakes things up a bit....

Doesn't the Chiss Merc nemesis in the Force Users and Hunters nemesis deck come with a stimpack? I'm pretty sure I remember using it just to annoy my players (he has a silly soak level too, so it was like "but that damage was hard earned man!"

Heck yea. They stock them and use them unless there's a real good reason not to.

of course they get Stimpacks, depending on the Setup it costs the nemesis 1-2 maneuvers and therefore he can stand toe to toe with the powerfull SCs.

Something I also like to use: A good medic NPC.

used once an an enemy doc with stimpack specialisation 3, and Improved quickdraw, while a herlic brawler and a rodian marksman keept the SC at bay... they got furios over the repeated healings.

Something that I use on an Enemy Nemesis once: An Inquisitor with Harm and the selfheal/absotion upgrade (Enemy was not to strong but it was worth to remember)

Something I'm up to use: A grey force sensitive with heal and a good medic knowledge as Support for 2 Other bulki Guys... I already hear my players scream in agony... (to be fair they use their heal-o-medic-forci all the time).

Not only do I give them stimpacks, I let them keep two of them in a Military Belt Pouch.

Definitely. They are a sufficiently obvious thing to have that any 'combat team' - be they thugs or professional soldiers - are likely to think to have a few on them.

Look at it this way: if the players have enough sense to bring grenades, stimpacks, etc, why wouldn't the bad guys?

What combat professional wouldn't carry a few light-weight, affordable, easy-to-use, highly effective first aid implements.

Once upon a time, every Stormtrooper was to have two of those.
