I'll show you the "Dark Side"

By FrozenPhyro, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I got another crazy build. Currently working on my first Imperial Build. Decided to make a build using just First Order ships, and preferred to do one of each. Wanted each ship to show off a different tech slot if possible. Well here is the build:

Dark Side

Major Stridan - Upsilon-Class Shuttle (total: 42)

  • Kylo Ren (3)
  • Pattern Analyzer (2)
  • Kylo Ren's Shuttle (2)
  • Experimental Interface (3)

"Backdraft" - TIE Special Forces (total: 32)

  • A Score To Settle (0)
  • Fire Control System (2)
  • Targeting Synchronizer (3)
  • Special Ops Training (0)

"Omega Ace" - TIE First Order (total: 25)

  • Juke (2)
  • Comm Relay (3)

Total Points: 99

Idea is to dump as many criticals through shields as possible using Kylo Ren's ability. Backdraft is being used to put criticals through via his back arc, while gaining a target lock due to FCS. The piece of the build uses Omega Ace's ability to turn all dice to critical results.

Now for a question: "Does Targeting Synchronizer allow Omega Ace to spend Backdraft's target lock using the ability?"

Also is there any improvements that you would make to the list?

Wrong upgrade point value

Yes it does.

Experimental Interface and Pattern Analyser is an interesting combination. I'm not sure if the shuttle's green dial is good enough to support it but it could work very nicely; 'Dark Side' someone and lock them up (or co-ordinate Omega Ace to set up his lock) and you should be able to deliver criticals from both guys reliably.

Thoughts:

  • Without a Fleet Officer or Systems Officer, the only reason you need Major Stridan is to increase the range on Co-ordinate. Range 1-2 is still not bad; you could probably manage with a Starkiller Base Pilot.
  • A Hyperwave Comm Scanner in the second Tech Slot would allow the shuttle to deploy at PS6, after most generics and a lot of lower PS uniques (Ryad & Biggs for starters) and start Omega Ace's Comm Relay 'charged', a good insurance against Heroes Of The Resistance Han Solo or similar sucker punches.
  • The Kylo Ren's Shuttle title is only 2 points.
  • If you have the spare points, Lightweight Frame is a very good choice for Backdraft. With A Score To Settle meaning he doesn't need to use his focus offensively, the extra green dice makes him a lot more elusive for only 2 points.

So something like this then?

Dark Side

Starkiller Base Pilot - Upsilon-Class Shuttle (total: 41)

  • Kylo Ren (3)
  • Pattern Analyzer (2)
  • Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1)
  • Kylo Ren's Shuttle (3)
  • Experimental Interface (2)

"Backdraft" - TIE Special Forces (total: 34)

  • A Score To Settle (0)
  • Fire Control System (2)
  • Targeting Synchronizer (3)
  • Special Ops Training (0)
  • Light Weight Frame (2)

"Omega Ace" - TIE First Order (total: 25)

  • Juke (2)
  • Comm Relay (3)

Total Points: 100

I like the look of that. Backdraft is great fun as you can slowly (or quickly) run away and tear things apart that try and chase you.

Isn't kylo's shuttle only 2 point not 3?

i think you just switched the points for interface and shuttle
