Saboteur list building

By Moeaswordusrex, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

So I had a skirmish game tonight with my brother using my recently bought rebel saboteurs, and I must say I was really quite pleased with how they performed and they were fun to use, however I don't know that my list was all that good, not that I'm looking to get competitive, but I'm interested to see what you guys had to say and how you would build a list with rebel saboteurs. Its also worth noting however I don't feel my brother's list was particularly strong, he was using jabba, bosk, Murne, Enexu and Boba as well a first strike, and all though those are all characters that seem good (some more than others) only having five activations with limited damage potential made it hard for him to chug through all my units.

My list was:

.Gideon, Hera, C3PO, E Rebel saboteurs (with targeting computer) , E Alliance rangers, Davith Elso, Jyn Odan

Whilst it was certainly a fun list, it at times felt a little squishy, especially considering Davith died in an instant, which was a shame as it was my first time using him... I also kinda suck at the game, so that didn't help.

So anyway to sum it all up, how would you make a list with rebel saboteurs?

Davith is quite squishy unfortunately. That said he puts the hurt on the bantha and Omar since the have no defensive die. I've been the victim of both in recent tourneys. I've also seen the elite sans run in several rebel lists, so you are not the only one enjoying them :-)

For the 6 pts of Davith I think there are better options. I really like Murne with rebel high command so you can hide another figure.

I was actually thinking about using murne, having the ability to hide yourself and an alley is really quite handy, especially on the saboteurs if you want to get blast or stun, and whats more is that you have more control over weather it happens or not, at least in comparison to agent blaise... not that blaise is bad, I really enjoy him. But perhaps there is still hope for Davith yet, I would like to experiment with him more.

I should also mention that my brother managed to use murne's command card very early on, and made jyn shoot Davith... I wasn't too happy about it.

I've only been to one tournament, a couple of weeks ago, and won 2 of 3 games, so I was happy with it! But I did get some breaks from the white die... For what it's worth, I ran;

Jedi Luke, Hera, C1-10P, C-3PO, Gideon, Murne, Loku and eSaboteurs with Targeting Computer

I can't remember my command card deck, but I had loads of Spy cards in there to mess with all the Hunter shenanigans, plus with Black Market and Rule by Fear being so prevalent to help with card draw, it's nice to wait until they're holding a hand full of cards, feeling all prepared, and then play Strategic Shift on them! ? Having several Leaders is good as well to throw some of those in to help with your own list.

Your list certainly does sound like a lot of fun, but tell me, is loku any good? I have always been sceptical of him, but my brother made good use with when hiding him behind a bunch of rangers and focusing him with Gideon.

Also forget to write I had targeting computer, better fix that.

Loku can be vulnerable, so you have to be careful, but get him in a good sniping position with friendly figs blocking LOS, and he can do some damage with his double action attack. He's mainly there for another cheap Spy. I originally doubled down on the Spies with Mark, but he is proper rubbish so I swapped him and Diplo Mission for Hera who is so much stronger it's not even funny.

Yep, Hera is absolutely amazing, I nearly have her in all rebel and scum squads.

You could cut Davith and Jyn for elite Echo Base Troopers (or elite troopers if you don't have Hoth) and in some skirmish upgrades, Rebel High Command is a staple in all of my Rebel lists and On a Diplomatic Mission is great on Gideon.

My original squad was actually going to use Elite Echo base troops (they are one of my favourite units) but after painting Davith, I really wanted to try him.

Were you playing with the correct version of the E Sabs? To find the correct version, you need to find it in the FAQ.

I was, yes.

I'd reduce the number of uniques. Gideon, 3PO and Hera are great. The rest is not. Focused eSabs with TC are great, so are eRangers. eEBTs are OK. Maybe add a Smuggler or 2.
