HotAC Online Ship Builder

By AwesomeJedi, in X-Wing

That's perfect timing. We're starting a new HotAC in a couple of weeks.

Nice!

Wait....Integrated Astromech is listed as a "free" modification, but it doesn't take up a slot. You have to have it take up a slot, even if it's free, right?

I believe this was a discussion before. It can be played both ways, but in my opinion it is an upgrade such as Chardin Refit to where it's built into the ship and doesn't take a slot.

IIRC Pretty sure it's in the rulebook as free and no slot, but you have you have to "buy" the astro back if you junk it. That siad it's been an age since i looked it up

Otherwise it wouldn't be very "integrated"!

Think of it as a title. And no, AFAIK you only need to buy it back if you lose it to the eject roll

Wish this gave you the option to start with any of the ships. It gives you the option to buy into all of the non-standard secondary ships, why not be able to start in something different?

This is fantastic. Any idea if this is being actively developed? It would be a huge help if I could save builds for each person that jumps in an out of my campaign and print our their card with a listing of the upgrades they bought. My problem is losing the ship cards in between games (or people not returning with theirs).

I don't know the developer, but I can assume it will be updated.

I found that if you click on the drop down menu at the top left corner, there is a copy link option for sharing purposes. I am saving the link on a Google Doc as a way to save my builds while in the middle of the campaign because you can edit builds on saved links, you just need to get a new link. But I agree that it would be easier if it had a sign in feature.

I need to get to work on an Ally and Scum AI system.

Does this print out the full build? My print outs don't list the upgraded - tho I am printing from an iPad.

Great find!

It's a shame it doesn't include all the ships such as the YT-1300 and YT2400.

This looks great. It does have ships/pilot skills in it not in the standard hotac dowload i have found. Is there an updated Hotac containing these?

Hello fellow gamers, I am experiencing similar to worse problems..

1.

I cannot find anything like the mentioned dropdownlist or similar features on the linked page.. and..

2.

I can create a ship, but the prints (pdf, xps are b/w and missing any upgrades et al.. :-)

Has anyone encountered similar problems? Or is this the way it is?

(Info: win10, firefox 55.0.3 64-bit (if this matters))

Thx

Hi All. I'm Graham - the developer of this site/tool. Despite being a semi-regular visitor to these forums, I've only just discovered this post!

I'm amazed anyone is actually using it since I hadn't given the URL out or made any efforts to publicise :) @AwesomeJedi May I ask out of interest how you found out about it?

3 months ago it was very much an alpha version - very buggy and subject to continual change. Beta testing by myself and my group has been going on the last few months to the point it is mostly stable and has a fixed set of functionality. A lot of the issues mentioned above have been fixed now.

It was originally conceived for my local play group to help them see all the possible upgrade options, but has since evolved into a play tool and ship tracker as well. Everything is handled via the URL. The players in our group share URLs around between games on our chat/whatsapp group to keep track of our pilots. During games we either use the tool on our phones/ipads as a game reference instead of needing all the paper sheets/cards, or printout the summary and use that.

If you are interested in progress, you can follow things in the public Github issues queue or project tracker . Next steps are working on fixing the printouts for all browsers.

One issue I've been thinking which is alluded to in several comments above is the variation in house rules that different players use. I've stuck here to the basic hotac ships, but allowed any upgrades that are available (mostly because it's easy to pull in the data from the excellent xwing-data project ). I'm aware other groups don't do this, or allow extra ships or different custom rules. I'm thinking about possible ways I could incorporate these, but it's a tricky problem and not one that I may end up solving. At the moment it's pretty much going to be following the basic hotac that my play group uses.

I'd be very interested to know feedback etc and hear of people using it, but bear in mind this is a side project I do in my spare time :)

I believe I stumbled apon this through XWingTMG on Reddit. Good job on this project by the way!

Great job, but I noticed that the HWK does not have it's Illicit slot.

Hah. I never noticed the rebel HWK has the illicit slot. I'll add this to the issue tracker
