New player needs list help!!!

By darkevans, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

So I'm new to this game as far as playing competitively goes. I've got a list I want to run at a store championship and need help with command cards. My list and cards are below. Any help or tips would be very much appreciated.

Looks solid I don't see any major issues. I'd swap deadeye for positioning advantage but either one is fine.

I'm not that experienced at Skirmish, so take this with a pinch of salt, but I run eSaboteurs and Gideon in the same list so hopefully this is useful! On a Diplomatic Mission has rarely been that amazing, most games are over after 4-5 rounds at most, so it's not getting you that much. For the same point I'd be tempted to run Targetting Computer on the Sabs instead. Makes them a lot more reliable.

Data theft is fun, but if you're exceeding mega competitive opponents, something like blitz might serve you better.

Most of the people I play with also run Jedi Luke. It's another way for me to play son of Skywalker

I bet that makes you popular!

We don't have much of a community yet. Just mostly close friends. They hate it lol

Yeah, it's a good combo. Remarkably powerful. Perhaps don't play it against anyone new who you're trying to get into the group!

I'd agree that On a Diplomatic Mission could be subbed out. I don't run Rebels much, but one of the most popular upgrades is Rebel High Command. Command card draw tends to make or brake a game. It costs 2 so you would have to rethink your hand a bit, but it may be worth it. As @General Zodd mentioned, Targeting Computer is also great as rerolls are a game changer. Your consistency goes up quite a bit.

As far as the command cards go:

Positioning Advantage - I also like Positioning Advantage. I don't know how many times I get 1 damage away from defeating a figure, so that card comes in really handy.

Blitz - much the same as positioning advantage and for the same reasons, but I generally have a hard time fitting it in my hand.

Maximum Fire Power - is one I'd reconsider as well. Being 3 pts takes up a lot of room in your hand, so you better be able to use it every single time you draw it. Seeing that only the eSabs can use it, that turns me off to it a bit in your list. Also, given that it is 2 actions, you will already have to be in position to use it at the beginning of your activation, which means within 3 spaces with LOS. If that's the case, setting up for the card can mean you are putting your figure in a very vulnerable position (aka, you're going to get attacked).

Disorient - The way focus and hidden are being thrown around, I've come to really like Disorient. I've been able to remove focus from several key figures, which has been the only reason they stay alive for another attack or retreat.

Celebration - In competitive play its all about how many pts you can get in 65 minutes. Celebration is amazing as it adds 4pts when you defeat a unique. Its rare to see a group without a few uniques.

Tough Luck - With Weequays and Rangers being very popular choices, I've found Tough Luck to be an almost necessity. Again by removing a die from your opponents attack can be the difference between living and dying.

And that's my 2 cents! Good luck. Welcome to the competitive community!

Thanks for the advice. Tough luck was a change that I had made but somehow it didn't save in the list I guess
