A few questions.

By Theadjectivenoun, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Greeting fellow and knowledgeable players. I've only played 8 games bit got a decent collection in a short time span. But I was wondering about a few questions.

Question 1 - Is a player allowed to take a measure with a distance ruler to determine if the model will collide with an object/fly off the edge or does it have to be eyeball?

Question 2 - Can A X-Wing model (Wedge) take both BB-8 and Vector Thrusters? It seems a bit OP.

Question 3 - If a small ship bumps into a Large/Huge ship does it roll to see if the small ships take damage? Also is there wash damage from the Large/Huge ships. Can a fighter be used to obscure another fighter like when you try to shot a fighter through debris?

Question 4: If a player doesn't pick up a dial to set model maneuvers how does that ship resolve. Does it move 1 forward? Or is it determined by the opponent? What happens? Does it fall under a missed opportunity?

Thank you in advance

1. It has to be eyeballed. There is no pre-measuring allowed in X-Wing. This was written in the original core set and is spelled out in more detail for range measurements in the FAQ.

2. Yes. Wedge would still only be able to take one barrel roll action per round, whether that action is provided by BB-8 or Vectored Thrusters, but he could take it before executing a green maneuver with BB-8 OR Barrel roll after executing a maneuver using the action added by Vectored Thrusters.

3. There is no damage for small or large ships overlapping each other. If a small or large ship ends a maneuver overlapping a huge ship then they do roll for damage, but huge ships don't typically see a lot of play. There is no jet wash damage in this game. Small and Large ships do not obstruct attacks, Huge ships do obstruct attacks, but again they don't see a lot of play.

4. Quoted from the X-Wing FAQ "Rule Clarifications: Missed Opportunities": "If a player forgets to place a maneuver dial next to a ship, but tells his opponent he is ready to begin the round, once play has proceeded to the first ship (a dial has been revealed, a maneuver has been executed, etc.), he may no longer place a dial. Instead, when that ship activates, the player's opponent chooses the maneuver that ship will perform. No actions may be taken before this maneuver, but play proceeds normally after the maneuver has been executed."

Above poster is correct on all answers, I just want to add that the Modification Upgrade Tactical Jammer can be used to create this effect on a large base ship, but it is otherwise not a component of normal game play.

Okay thanks for that. I thought I saw a rules upgrade that huge ships have wash damage if you for whatever reason tried to take a maneuver behind it for whatever reason.

Wedge Antilles with Outmaneuver is a little OP.

Wedge with Outmaneuver is a common build until you realise that Predator is much better.

Given what seems to be the most prevalent on tables at the moment; if you're able to get Wedge into position where Outmaneuver is working for you consistently then good luck to you.
