Mc30 fleet options

By Radaeon, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Of to a store championship in an area i have never played before. As such I have no idea what will be played. However, following this forum the top lists are likly to be a tie swarm or super ISD with support. I am taking a guess and reakon it maybe the ISD type.

I normaly play lists that lead with either a Liberty or a tooled MC80 with Akbar. With all the talk around of tooled up ISD I am not sure these lists will cut it atm. I thought of a double MC 80 list with having a heavy x wing screen but not sure such a slow list will do well. This leadsme to a MC30 swarm list. Which looks like,

Mon Motha

MC30 Torpedo Frigate, Admonition, Ordance expert, Derlin, ACM, XI7

MC30 Torpedo Frigate, Forsight, Lando, ACM, XI7

MC30 Torpedo Frigate, ACM, OE, H9

Medium Transport, EHB, JN

Medium Transport,

A wing's x 3, VCX x 2

Total 391.

Madine is here for movment. I am thinking i can use it to catch big ships out by using saved token and him i can click up 2 speeds and turn on a 2 cent piece. Have thought about using Mon Mothma but i am not that experianced in using so many fast ships at once. I have never used Rieeken and dont really want to start.

As for the squadrens they are speedbumps. I suspect Rima will be MIA with his changes. I have seen a Admo survive large bomber packs before. The VCX are for keeping squadrens locked down and token movment if required.

As for the ships I have thought about chart officers so i can use obstacles to my advantage. The transports are for activation advantage, squadrons, aa and a bump stop if required.

H9 is for chasing transports the others for hurting things.

Missions - not decided yet as i want first player.

Welcome suggestions.

You need ordnance experts! You dont need expanded hanger.

Admonition will be fine without reinforced blast doors. Share the love.

Most wanted, Capture the VIP, Solar Corona.

Thanks for the tips Gink.

What about the Admiral?

Madine is a little bit of a training wheel for Mc30s as they move well anyway, but you make it sound like that wouldnt be a bad thing.

If you are focused on mc30s, you should investigate Mon Mothma.

Foresight will become a chore for the opponent, as will admonition.

If you drop a VCX, you still have a token mover, but you can squeeze in Shara Bey.

Small correction: VCX's are heavy, so won't be locking any squadrons down.

I would go with Mon Mothma as well - that up close survivability boost is just so nice.

took this to a tourney recently and it slashed through the meta like a hot knife through butter

It's based on gink's Ackbar destroyers list and a couple of recent threads such as the mc30 bringing sexy back thread.

You mentioned adviser and I like him too... As stated above, Madine could be sweet, but by and large you don't need him, and extra dice are sweet...

Ditch your squads for bid, upgrades, and or activations... They won't provide any real impediment to the Sloane swarms so common today. It won't be a Corolla hitting a speed bump in a Walmart parking lot at 20mph, but more like a oil tanker hitting a whale at 30 knots..

Thanks for the feedback.

The edited list at the top is what I used.

The Store Tournament did not go so well. Three rounds first game was a by.

2nd game was a full table for me during last squadron phase of turn 6. 12 y wings will do that. He also had 2 AFII's and 5 transports. I killed 3 transports 3 y wings and had a fair few on 1 or 2 health. The a wings did well to hold the Y wings but in the end I was having trouble holding things in 1 spot to use all the black dice.

game 3 was against 2 MC80's with all the bells and whistles with Ackbar. They put out a lot of hurt and it was tuff again to hold them in one place. I lost 1 transport and most of my ships were hurting. I would have killed one of the 80's except for RBD. I was totally surprised how fast an MC80 could move and how hard they turn with engine Tec. They basically out moved my 30's. I did win the squadron battle. Basically killed his A wings.

I know I don't have a lot experience using these types of ships but not being able to hold them in one place was an issue. While the VCX's did have heavy they allowed my A wings to move and shot when I had no activation range. Rouge would have helped that but counter did very well.

Maybe the MC80 idea is worth a thought.

This is the most colorful metaphor I've seen in weeks.

People keep saying that MC80's are dead, even though they keep doing this. I don't get it. If you're going to try an 80 list, I recommend wandering through some of the regenerating pickle lists.

Did you go first or second in your games??? I didn't have to go up against bombers in my games, I wonder how it might have gone, I suspect just ok.

I had first.

2nd game the extra activations meant the 2 assault frigs went after my 30's so was difficult to get good shots and ecm's made it hard to stick damage. And with so many y wings damage was incoming regularly.

3rd game again ecm's and damage control officer prevented hard damage being dealt. When you shoot with one 30 the 80 moved and engine tec to a safe spot against black dice. If you try to set up a trap they just go the other way.
