A rebellion built on hope. . .

By Do I need a Username, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I enjoy the T-65 as a ship, and the lack of play saddens me. thus, I am setting it as my goal to build a squad of 75% T-65s not including Biggs that is at least semi-competitive (I can not lose all of my games). Looking at lists for a while, I have narrowed it down to three options.

Option one:

Rookie Pilot (25) x 4

X-Wing (21), Proton Torpedoes (4), Guidance Chips (0)

This list (With plasmas) was capable of defeating a casual Kath / Dengar with two remaining. I like it for that, but getting of the munitions might be hard. Thus, I went to Option 2:

Swap One of the rookies for:

Gold Squadron pilot W/ BTL/A4, Ion Cannon Turret, R3-A2

This version can use some control, and the ability to Ion someone to set them up for a three torp. shot seems good. Plus, stress control is good to prevent dodging. So: which one do you all like best? Do I go for the Beta strike, or the ability to deny actions?

As a fellow T65 flyer, I like your ambition. I. Don't think proton torpedoes are the correct choice though. It's tough getting that target lock with a PS2 pilot. Also, with Xwings you are usually needing that focus for defense. Congrats on your victory though with Dengar!

I do think swapping one out for the stress hog is a good play. I've been flying three Xwings and a Ywing for much of the year. It has the firepower and some sturdiness, but you need to be very smart on the dials to get the most out of it.

My suggestion though would be to drop the torps in favor of the more interesting droids.

Tarn Mison is also an awesome cheap Xwing, particularly with R7 or M9-G8. With M9 he can really support your force while also discouraging attacks on himself. Some players won't shoot when facing his guns unless they are sure they can kill him.

I get the Target lock thing, but what I noticed is that typically it takes ~2 turns to get turned around back into the fight. I used one of those to acquire the lock, and then I come back into the fray with 2 hit +2 crit. that said, I did look at droids, and came up with this:

Tarn Mison, M9-G8, IA, Plasma

Wes Janson, R3-A2, IA, Flechette

Wedge, R2-D2, Vectored Thrusters, PTL.

I know from experience that that Tarn can be real pain to kill, and the plasma's give added incentive to avoid shooting him, allowing him to mod Wedge's attacks more. Wes token strips (Pretty simple), and Wedge is designed to be a finisher. that said, I know that 3T-65 lists tend to evaporate unless you can erase something quick enough (from experience with a three PS 10 list I made a while back), but hopefully I can do some damage to most things. I also considered with the previous list (Plasmas + Droids) going to :

Rookie + GC + Plasmas + R4-D6 (A pain to Kill)

Rookie + R3-A2 + Plasmas (Budget stress, but an Ion Y might be better) + GC

Rookie + GC + Plasmas (for the extra point on the R3-A2)

Rookie + R5-X3 + plasmas + GC (As just a plain annoying ship that can do unpredictable stuff.

This list lacks some of the punch, but gets stress still and can lay in the hurt to a lot of ships still.

As for the Dials, this is something I have noticed myself, but in general I seem to be able to land some arcs on target.

Out of interest, what is your 3-T65 + Y list (If you don't mind sharing?)

I flew three t-65s with R2 and IA alongside Braylen with gunner, Vectored Thrusters, overhaul and r3-a2. Looks great and is surprising potent. It died badly against defenders though.
