Tie Aggressor with TLT...the verdict?

By NeverBetTheFett, in X-Wing

The Tie Aggressor with TLT is:

1) Meh.

2) Effective on it's own.

3) You need a couple to do any real damage.

4) your own witty answer.

4) Guarantee that TLT is finally getting a nerf, because now the Empire can use it.

Literally exactly what it says on the tin: TLT Imps, with a barrelroll // more agility // better dial in exchange for slightly more than half the hp.

Lone Wolf Double Edge had proven to be........... Ok. Not the obvious first choice, packs the damage on steadily. Folds like a napkin when attacked and is hard to fly. Also difficult to get any use out of his ability.

I found that using 2 generic TLT's is also tough - mainly because there is no Imperial equivilent of Asajj that can tank.

Would be interested to see if anyone has tried Kestal in an alpha strike list.

Now that the Empire have TLT it should get a pilot card to match.

Jar Jar Binks: Aggressor

When using TLT Jar Jar may replace the wording on the card with this: Attack: Perform this attack 66 times ( at any range, even against ships that are on other play mats or tables or in other nearby stores/houses) Each time this attack hits, the defender suffers 2 damage. You may reroll all blank dice results. You may not use this attack on other Imperial ships.

Double Edge would be better in literally any other TIE with a secondary weapon option (TIE Adv, TAP, Bomber, Punisher, Defender, or SF)

The turret combined with ordnance on a fragile platform is weird. It makes him want to abuse the turret so he doesnt get shot, but that means he cant use his ability because nobody is ever in arc

in fact he'd be quite mean in a defender /d. The title makes no mention about not attacking again after the next free attack, and neither does Double Edge. So if that Tractor Cannon missed, doubletap main guns (since they still havnt faq'd the whole Gunner + IG88B crap and thats essentially the same thing)

it's ******* mind boggling because the Aggressor has to keep running away but the Defender keeps charging your face

It makes sense when you realize FFG just couldn't fit the full name of TIE Passive Aggressor on the cards.

It's fine, but quad tlt is boaring and people learned how to deal with it.

The aggressor with tlt is in par with the y's with some differences and that's just not exciting... The ship is old and boaring on release. It's not bad just not new.

should have called it the "TIE Aggravater" because its so aggravating how much it runs from you

Like Y-wing TLTs: Two are scary but manageable; four are boring.

and anyway Joe Boss already calls it some nonsense like that. Aggravateds or somesuch?

In some way I kind of appreciate its patent Imperial fragility.

the empire can go patent itself some more x7s

That one was an accident

Double Edge 19 ps4

Ruthlessness 3

Twin Laser Turret 6

Assault Missiles 5

Munitions Failsafe 1

34 points.

Fire the assault missile first, if enemies are grouped up, they'll likely want to avoid this shot, if they do, great fire the Twin Laser Turret. If they don't, great, damage all around.

Kestal can work similar, but I would put guidance chips on her, as it provides a better synergy. Either case, once these ships fire ordance, they should break off and snipe from a distance.

XX-23 s thread tracers also work well with ruthlessness. All ships geta target lock, and you score damage on a nearby ship.

23 points for a sienar specialist with a twin laser is likely to be overlooked as a threat, and as an annoying gnat of a foe can seemingly work well.

I've been up against:

Kestal + ASTS + Cruise M (x2) + Chips

QD + Draw their fire + FCS + Cruise M + Chips

Tomax + Crack + HM + EM + Chips

98/100

Awesome squad imho

I saw Expertise Kestal with a TLT quite happily punch out Fenn Rau last week in a 200pt game. Now admittedly in that case he had just spent a turn facing off against an entire TIE Swarm, a Glaive, Ryad and Quickdraw and was down to 1 hull. But Kestal knew that she could shut down focus and autothrusters which was what was ensuring Fenns survival so far.

In theory Kestal could get more damage through Autothruster holders with something like a Sync Turret (Which I was using in various guises that game. VI-Kavil isn't worst place to put one, as was a Deadeye Scurrg.) but the Aggressor probably needs the range.

This.

??????

After having 3 games. It's definitely not bad.

I don't think its amazing, but its functional and useful.

Hope you don't mind @BadMotivator , I edited your thread for an insiteful repost ?

Do you mean insightful ?

It gives the Imperials a much neaded firepower option, however when compared to its counterparts that can carry Turrets, it doesn't last as long. I think the Y-wings, Scurrg and K-wings tend to be better as carriers. It does fare better than VCX and Attack shuttles.

It's a better TLT carrier than the hwk for sure, and probably the y-wing too. Much better dial (except for not having a 4 straight), plus barrel roll, plus pseudo agility 3 if you take LWF

It's nice if an imp player like turrets, but overall it doesn't fit the imperial style of running uber efficient and cheap aces.

Well what is the Imp style because that now seems to be the Scum style (Fen Rau)?

As for my opinion it fits better to Imp style than you think as in great offense but easily killed. It has great offensive options but for defensive options they are rather thin and it could get eaten up rather quick. In a way Soontir Fel is tankier than a TIE-Aggressor.
