I think it will read " Action: If you are less honourable than another player, bow this stronghold -- take 1 honor from that player.

It could certainly be this. It could become a total draw on clans that want to press honor victory, as well as stave off honor loss if you were to just take an honor from them every turn... I don't think the Scorp will find too much trouble spending their ill gained reputation either lol

What I think as well. Taking the imperial favor is a really weak effect compared to the other strongholds, and taking one fate would be way too good. :)

this stronghold, take..............

Care to post the link or direct me to it? I'd love to see my stronghold.

Sorry for the double post.

Thanks man! Appreciate it.

I guess it's safe to say that Scorpion will be sporting a solid dishonor base (base as core set of cards not base as stronghold) come release. That's like -1 honor for your opponent per turn.

I think the trick will be to stay low enough on honour to be able to use the stronghold each turn, but at one point, you'll have to make your opponent lose 3-4 honour in one turn to finish him (or her).

But I don't think it'll be a viable and reliable strategy with just the core set. Of course, it will happen from time to time, but a dedicated dishonor deck probably won't be possible right out the gates.

I don't think there will be a reliable way to bomb your opponent several honor without them being able to choose or play around it. I imagine any dishonor actions they have will be on the same level of Crab for power / dishonor strength, just with a political focus.

So in the strategy blurb of the learn to play guide, it talks about scorpion wanting to bid high to fill their hand with conflict cards to use. I feel like this suggests that they are going to be less about dishonor victory, and more about stealing honor to keep their schemes running without losing to dishonor themselves.

Did anyone notice that they specifically noted the the scorpion are opium dealers? I wonder if that means we get a card for that

The Scorpion might be dealers, but apparently it's the Unicorn that provide the wholesale distribution (which seems like something other Clans might not be too happy about).

Actually, it's probably more likely the old lore here is still operative.

By imperial edict all opium is grown in Ryoko Owari and distributed by the Scorpion.

A situation for which they pay heavily in imperial taxes, and guad zealously.

We do not deal opium. That is a slanderous lie! The Shosuro family are the foremost herbalists in the empire and they are testing opium's medicinal qualities. The Scorpion are merely conducting large scale clinical trials of the drug at this time. Thank you.

The new rule book suggests it was the Unicorn that brought opium to rokugan, but you're right, that doesn't mean they control it anymore.

That was the old lore as well. The Unicorn introduced opium to Rokugan, and the Scorpion essentially siezed control of it through political means ??

So what you're saying is, Scorpion is really Big Pharm?

In Rokugan, it is ??

If you need something for either your pains or your jones, you're buying Scorpion knowingly or not??

The City of Lies! The Scorpion Clan have the Imperial license for the production of medicinal opium. It is grown around about Ryoko Owari (The City of Lies) but IIRC, they grow enough opium in one year to provide medical use in the Empire for a decade.

If you know the box set for the RPG from many years ago, the entire campaign that was playable in it was about the opium trade. I'll say no more about the plot, at the moment.
