Quick draw check

By Scaritus, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Played a Vassal game tonight with QD and need to check this.

Poe in rear arc at range one. Poe has Qd in arc too.

QD fires first, 2 x 3 dice shots because of Spec ops.

Poe attacks QD, causing shield loss.

QD takes 2 x 3 dice attacks again on Poe.

correct?

How does QD take 2 rear-arc shots in the first place? He'll get 1 for his normal shot and 1 when his ability triggers.

No. The rear shot from Spec ops only triggers after a shot out the front. So only one shot out the rear for the main attack, then one shot out the rear for the revenge shot.

clarification

Yeah, the SF only gets the extra attack from the rear arc after it makes an attack from its front arc, forgoing the extra dice.

If Quickdraw had a primary arc target at Range 1, she could attack the ship in front of her with her regular attack and then Poe with the title, lose a shield to Poe during Poe's regular attack, and trigger her ability to shoot the ship in front of her again, then use the title to shoot Poe again.

But as has already been pointed out, the Spec Ops title doesn't let you just shoot twice out the back. If you'd like to get into why that is, go back to the Rules Question forum listing and click any topic at random. Chances are very good it will be a thread about that very question.

Clarity

Thanks

Read it completely wrong.

Sorry random Vassal opponent.

So for clarity, you could have done one 3 Dice shot out if the rear, and then another when you lost your shield.

The Special ops training card could be written better...

That card really needs a faq since this is a VERY common misconception about that title.

I've even had my opponent sit there after i attack out the aux arc only waiting for the 2nd attack.

I will laugh hysterically if they instead of FAQ it the way we all think, they errata it to the way we all keep saying is wrong. Would be hilarious after so many months of confusion they pick the other side arbitrarily.

backdraft would become an utter nightmare if that were to happen though. And hes already pretty mean.

It is not possible, if we use the interpretation that lead to double attack on the rear, it become impossible to have a front and a back attack.
