[Bounty Hunter] Not So Fast

By Alarin, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi, how exactly this ability works please?

Not So Fast: Use this card when a tracked monster in your line of sight performs a move action.
Reduce that monster's movement points by 1 (to a minimum of 1). You may immediately move 2 spaces.

Cost: 1 fatigue

It is not 'exhaust' so I assume you can use it as the Ghost Armor.

1) Do you use it immediately after the monster declares the move action?

2) Can you pay 2 fatigue to lower the speed by 2 and move 4 spaces?

Thanks!

I'd say yes, you can use it multiple times a turn, every time a monster declares a move action for as long as you can suffer fatigue.

1) Yes, I'd assume it interrupts the OL's turn long enough for you to resolve the card and move the 2 spaces.

2) No, you can't use the same trigger twice.

1) Agree

2) Disagree. If the card said "each time" I'd agree that it's a once-per-event trigger (like Nimble). However, since it's not exhausted and not otherwise limited, you could use it multiple times on the same trigger.

I would concur with Zaltyre, citing the way Ghost Armor works as precedent.

I'm also all for anything that makes the Bounty Hunter a stronger class. I think it is overshadowed by most other Scouts due to the clunkiness of the Chosen Target mechanic.

I like the bounty hunter- yes, chosen target is a little wonky- but it's got some great bonuses (range, the free search option, free attack, protection, movement...) paired with the right hero (TETHERYS) it can be quite a bit of fun.

Interesting. I defer to you, you have more experience at this. I'd always thought of trigger conditions as single use events, good to know there are exceptions.

While there is a specific rule about multiple copies of the same overlord card being used for the same trigger, there is no such (explicit) rule on the books for other skills/abilities. Rather, most abilities have a limiter built in such as, "exhaust" (limiting to once per refresh), "once per turn" (explicit frequency limit), "as an action" (limited by action economy), or "each time" (explicitly per event). Without any such limit, the assumption I'm making is that you can use the ability so long as you can satisfy the requirements.

I could always be wrong (it happens more than you might think ;) ) . There is precedent for trigger restrictions which were intended but never printed- for example, the knight's "challenge" ability reads like it could be triggered at any time. However, it was later ruled to have an implicit "during your turn" trigger.
