Handsome Poe

By BlodVargarna, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I saw a thread over on Reddit where a guy flew a fat han and plot armor Poe TL win a store championship 7-0.

So I inspired by this and put together my own fat han and BB8 Poe list last night on Vassal and handily beat Captain Nym, a new Star Viper, and a Scyck.

Fat Han simply tanks the damage over many turns. He's still relevant and still awesome because he's Han!

Handsome Poe (99)

Poe Dameron (41) - T-70 X-Wing
Intensity (2), BB-8 (2), Primed Thrusters (1), Black One (1), Autothrusters (2)

Han Solo (58) - YT-1300
Lone Wolf (2), Rey (2), C-3PO (3), Millennium Falcon (1), Engine Upgrade (4)

I was just looking at another version with a com relay instead of primed Thrusters, so you can stock it up at the start. Looks cool though.

Which falcon title, the old one I'm guessing?

Yes. Old one. Pile up focus tokens on approach, then take evade tokens if you are going to take fire, boost if you can get out of arc or get out of Dodge.

Guess zero with 3PO, if you get a blank/focus add an evade. LW let's you re-roll a blank hopefully you get an evade or focus- (you DID remember to pull a focus from rey at start of combat right?! Right?!!) then your evade token for 2-3 evades for the falcon.

Doing that consistently makes it one tough old ship to take out.

I loooove that Intensity Poe, but I don't know if Han can be relied on to tank. Plus, I think those PS9s will want at least a 3-point bid to ensure they're moving last. I think if you dodge arcs with both as priority 1 and plink in damage when you can, you can win on time. I've played Poe enough to know that he just lacks offensively and that Han can't be relied upon to do the bulk of the damage. I think it'll be fun, but you'd have to fly carefully.

How'd the Vassel game go? I can't imagine it was a jousting scenario.

This is the list I saw...

Quote

Dash Rendar + Outrider + Heavy Laser Cannon + Lone Wolf + Rey + Rigged Cargo Chute + Smuggling Compartment
Poe Dameron (PS9) + Intensity + Black One + Comm Relay + R2-D2 + Autothrusters
(98)

PS 10 cap Nym and some new crazy star viper Dan-something.

I foolishly dialed in the obvious maneuver for Poe and he was killed. Han was able to take out Nym and the Viper. At range, they simply could not put enough damage on him. Nym is, I'm convinced now a nothing burger that can be easily destroyed.

The hard part was nailing down the Viper, but Han did in the end.

Here's the original list:

I experienced the Dash + Poe list today. I was flying PS 10 Nym with Dengar. I spent a few turns chasing Poe when I probably should have went after Dash. It was a combination of poor decisions (chasing Poe), poor maneuver selection (Nym landed on a debris), and my attack dice didn't do me any favors. I don't want to blame the attack dice because my bad rolls were all unaided and that was due to the poor flying/poor decisions.

Anyway, the Poe was difficult to hit and he would just regen the shield with a green move the next turn.

After having now played both regen and dodgy versions of Intensity Poe, as much as I hate to say it, I think regen is better. Like, a lot better. Dodgy Poe is way more fun to fly, but man....that Poe is really hard to kill. Really hard.

Regen Poe, is stuck doing boosts off of greens though. I can't get past that.

Also Comms Link BB8 Poe is no good. Can't BR or boost out of a T-Roll

Oh, I get it. I'm not advocating anything, really. I was just kind of floored at how tanky the regen version was. I'm not used to flying as patiently as that build requires, but I figured it out. The videos from that 7-0 reddit thread were an eye-opening experience. It was good lesson on playing to the strength of a list.

Can someone please explain me the Poe + r2d2 + intensity + comms relay combo?

I fail to see how this combo works, i might been not seen something obvious. What i can see is that this is a tankier build than the BB8 one cuz uses r2d2 regen after green moves and keeps the evade token from intensity with comms relay, but if you choose to keep the evade token you cant flip intensity back, and you can“t gain both focus and evade tokens in one turn cuz you need to use boost to gain the evade token.

So...unless the combo involves spending two turns for flip intensity again i fail to see how this works and how this is a better option to BB8 combo.

Thank you for the advice
